From the small Swiss Jura town, Tissot watch company reached a worldwide popularity and presence in 150 countries, thanks to sustaining product innovations.
Since its beginnings in 1853, Tissot has produced watches based on high technology, special materials, advanced functionality and great design. What’s also important, with mid price range of its timepieces, Swiss watchmakers made excellence accessible.
Series of innovations started in 1853, with the first production of pocket watches and the first pocket watch with two times zones.
Tissot also fathered the first anti-magnetic watch in 1929-30 and the world’s first plastic watch, Idea 2001, released in 1971. Company expanded its ‘experiments’ with watches, creating timepieces of rock (the Alpine granite Rock watch in 1985), wood (the Wood watch in 1988) and pearl (the Pearl watch in 1987).
