Original Calibre 12 Silverstone watches were launched in 1974, as the replacements for the Heuer Monaco which, at the time, was far away from the predicted success. The Silverstone Collection included three color variations of the same model (red, brown and blue) and it was certainly one of the most elegant models in the brand’s range.
Named after the famous UK race track that deserves an important place in the brand’s history, these attractive timepieces became even more popular on the wrist of a Swiss Formula One driver, Clay Regazzoni. Both sporty and elegant, Silverstone watches preserved the iconic square case of Monaco, but redesigned it with softer lines, which along with the famous Calibre 12 Chronomatic movement make them authentic.
In 2010, a vintage Silverstone was born again. New TAG Heuer Silverstone Calibre 11 Chronograph Limited Edition recalled the past with basically the same design of the original. Tag Heuer launched two limited editions of 1860 pieces in brown and blue, for a special occasion – the 150th birthday of the company. It created a one-of-a-kind red Silverstone which was sold for £10,000 on Bonham‘s Auction in London.
