Grand Carrera is the premium Tag Heuer’s collection of modern sport watches, launched in 2007, after four years of development. The simplicity of the design, inherited from the legendary Carrera racing watch, as well as a bold sporty look of its timepieces are nicely combined with a subtle touch of luxury and elegance, providing a distinctive form that has easily found its place at the watch market.
This is the unique collection under Tag Heuer’s range that offers only mechanical timepieces. They are all equipped with automatic movements which are officially certified as chronometers (calibers 6RS, 8RS, 17RS and 36RS). “RS” refers to the Rotating System disc which is the trademark of the Grand Carrera Collection.
Instead of using traditional sub-dials, sport watches from the collection feature the Rotating System discs, directly inspired by the engine design of a GT race car.
They usually provide better readability than some traditional sub-dials, yet they are less accurate. The most importantly, RS discs give designers greater flexibility, which contributes to unique aesthetic looks of Grand Carrera timepieces, either they are elegant models with basic performances, or chronographs with high-speed mechanisms.
