Inspired with Formula 1, especially with McLaren F1 Team, this Tag Heuer’s sport watches collection was launched in 1986, as the first brand’s product after the change of ownership, one year earlier. The Formula One Collection offered quality timepieces under budget-friendly prices, which had been the absolute hit until the Swiss watchmaker discontinued it, in 2000.
Four years later, Tag Heuer reproduced the collection, giving it a totally new look and an additional quality in terms of material. Still, Formula 1 watches remained very affordable, which makes them highly popular among younger brand’s fans. Men’s F1 timepieces are mostly quartz (with an exception of Calibre S Chronograph), with a modern design concept and masculine sizes (41 or 44 mm in diameter). The latest trend in the ladies’ line is the amazing combination of ceramic and steel. Pairing them with diamonds, the Swiss watchmaker created an extraordinary mix of sport and glamour.
Tag Heuer is proud on its racing heritage. Starting in 1969 with Jo Siffert, an impressive number of top drivers have been the ambassadors of the brand – Jacky Ickx, David Coulthard, Jenson Button, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Fernando Alonso, Mika Häkkinen and Lewis Hamilton.
Considering its long-lasting service as the official timekeeper of the Formula One World Championships and the fact that it has created timepieces for McLaren F1 team, it is clear that the Formula 1 Collection holds the highly valuable place under Tag Heuer’s range.
