Rolex Datejust
With one of the most recognizable watch designs in the world, Datejust watches for both, men and women have written the history of watchmaking. First presented in 1945, as the world’s first timepiece to display date through a tiny aperture on the dial, Datejust immediately became the symbol of luxury and elegance.
Although it was the first watch that incorporated a self-winding mechanism with a date complication, several design elements were so remarkable that they overcame the story of its functionality. Several years after Rolex Datejust Collection had been launched, an innovative feature was added to a dial, in order to stress a date aperture. It was the iconic magnifying Cyclops eye that has been one of the highlights of the collection ever since. Along with another Rolex’s trademarks – an Oyster bracelet, an Oyster case and very often a gold-fluted bezel, it forms a unique aesthetic form.
Even the latest editions of Datejust watches possess the prestigious and recognizable design from the past which, after some modifications in the 1970′s, has been barely changed. Still, Rolex offers many varieties in the Datejust Collection that can satisfy even those with the most delicate tastes for luxury timepieces.
