Panerai Watches
It is a fact that famous Florence watchmaker, Officine Panerai, has built up a great reputation as a trademark of Italian navy, for more than 50 years. However, for an ultimate approach to a stylish high society, Panerai needed passion of a ‘real action hero’ and of course, a special designed watch on his hand.
‘When I saw the watch I immediately felt that it had star power’, said Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone, after he had bought a Panerai Luminor in a jewelry store in Rome, in 1995.
Becoming a great admirer of the watch, Stallone had requested a special edition called Submersible to use during the shooting of the movie Daylight. Sly also ordered a special edition of watches with his signature on the case back, called Slytech.
Ever since, Panerai’s popularity has been very fast growing worldwide, as a result of harmonious combination of Italian designs and Swiss technology.
These quality standards were set up in 1860, by Panerai’s founder Guido Panerai, who had opened the first watchmaker’s shop in Florence and made contact with the best and longest established Swiss watch manufacturers.
Partnership with a Royal Italian Navy
Great technical ability of Panerai watches, the outcome of precise mechanical work, the use of the best skills combined with durability, won the trust of a Royal Italian Navy and watch company become its official supplier. Achievements in military operations provided good reputation for Italian watchmakers.
Renowned for their use by Italian commandos, the first water-resistant military diver watches Panerai Radiomir, produced in 1938, become a must-have objects among passionate collectors.
After more than 5 decades of partnership with the Royal Italian Navy, Officine Panerai made a numbered and limited edition of watch models for the civilian market: Luminor, Luminor Marina and an edition of the Mare Nostrum chronograph.
With The Richmond Group as a new owner of the company since 1997, new productions started, with an important improvement in quality, along with keeping its tradition.
