The Elegance Series by the famous Swiss watchmaker with the winged hourglass logo is the gropup of timepieces with underlined sensuality and graciousness, combined with the quality of the construction that is typical for Longines. Since it is predominantly a series intended for women, it involves elegant wristwatches with subtle proportions and in many cases, these timekeepers are decorated with a different number of diamonds on their bezels or dials. Mostly oriented toward the appearance and beauty of the products, the collection mostly consists of quartz watches, though there are a few models with mechanical movements. However, those are usually the basic types of calibers that do not include many complications. The entire range is divided to three sub-series: Dolce Vita, Prima Luna and La Grande Classique de Longines.
Dolce Vita line of products by Longines watches, launched in 1997, is distinctive by the rectangular shapes of elegant timekeepers. The subdued dimensions of the cases (just like the materials they are built of) may vary, but the rectangle shape remains ever-present in all of the models. The products in the collection are made with quartz movements. Many of those include a subsidiary seconds counter at the bottom of the face, while in rare cases, these watches have a central second hand or no second hand at all. Only one of the models among the ones with a quartz module is made with a chronograph feature.. The dials are white, white mother-of-pearl, silver “flinque” patterned, or completely covered with diamonds; while the wristlets are either metal bracelets (with materials matching the cases) or alligator leather straps.
The second sub-range within the Elegance series is called Prima Luna series. Unlike the previous section, this line of Longines Watches consists of round-shaped timekeepers. Despite the different shapes of the housings, the watches from the PrimaLuna Collection match the previous section in their basic qualities and advantages and also in the choice of quartz modules or in exceptional cases, high-frequency automatic mechanical calibers. The ones with mechanical self-winding movements that are featured in the Primaluna collection provide power reserves of 40 hours and no additional functions, apart from date displays Another common trait of all the watches from the Elegance series is the meticulously performed decorative aspect of the pieces in the collection is, with the use of diamonds of different mass and clarity in order to create contemporary styled timekeepers.
The final and definitely the most exciting sub-section in the Elegance line of Longines is La Grande Classique de Longines collection which consists of ultra-thin timekeepers with abundance of style. This pristine looking watches, mostly performed in a round shape, but in one instance in tonneau housing as well, do not exceed the diameter of 34 mm. The unique characteristics of the section are the presence of pink and yellow PVD steel cases and bracelets, and the possibility to opt for a black lacquer or a gilt face with a “flinque” pattern. The last and two previous sub-collections are made with uniform water resistance of 30 meters.
