The launch of the first J12 timepiece, back in 2000, was the milestone in the history of Chanel Watches. Ever since, the popularity of the brand’s watches has been rapidly growing, especially after Chanel produced its signature material, high-tech non-scratch ceramic, by using the zirconium dioxide powder and yttrium.
Inspired by the nautical world, the J12 Collection offers a number of wonderful choices for both men and women, in terms of design, precious materials and high end technology. At first, only made of exclusive, deep piano black ceramic, the J12 Collection has found its perfect opposite in intense opalescent white, obtained by using a new high-tech snow-toned color. Today, J12 watches also come in the brand’s special, ‘chromatic’ color which constantly shifts between tones of black and white, emphasizing the dual nature of the collection. This unique color has been produced by applying new polishing techniques on a high-tech 21st-century material, titanium ceramic.
In 2005, Chanel produced the first unisex watch with the superb water-resistance up to 200 meters (660 feet). Great performances under water have been even more increased thanks to the extreme toughness and high resistance of the brand’s ceramic.
Chanel’s designers have also experimented with dimensions and materials. Besides the original 38 mm watch, the prestigious French brand offers Chronograph and Marine models with diameters of 41 and 42 mm, as well as a J12 quartz with the diameter of 33 mm. In order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of J12, Chanel launched a nano version, featuring a small dial of 29 millimeters. By combining ceramic with pink or white gold, Chanel gave a subtle touch of luxury to its timeless elegance, while the addition of precious stones made true glamorous pieces of J12 watches.
