The special thing about the watches that bear the name Bulova Precisionist is the fact that these are the most punctual timepieces with sweeping hands avialable. It is a special lineage of quartz watches for which the U.S. manufacturer implemented innovations that made it more accurate than any similar products in the whole world. With an addition of a third prong to the quartz crystal, Bulova managed to successfully tackle both biggest challenges to punctuality of a quartz timepiece: temperature shifts and vibration frequency.
Quartz-driven watches from the Precisionist series include sweeping second hands that move 16 times per second. This is far more than regular quartz timepieces that beat only once a second, and even more than mechanical ones that do it eight to ten times per second. Another unmatched feature of these products is the frequency of 262,144 kilohertz, the highest one among all watches today.
Apart from protecting the mechanism from temperature changes, such frequency also secures advanced accuracy. While other timepieces with quartz mechanisms tend to have the punctuality of +/-15 seconds per month, watches from the Precisionist lineage are precise to 10 seconds per year. Bulova Precisionist watches are divided into four collections: Champlain, Claremont, Longwood and Tanglewood.
