Each spring, Basel becomes the meeting point for the world’s leading watch and jewellery producers. After some record figures at the previous show, both organizer and participants are preparing for Baselworld 2012 with a great optimism. The jubilee, 40th Watch and Jewellery Show will be organized from March 8 to March 15, 2012.
Watch and jewellery makers, representatives of the supplier industry and journalists, as well as the collectors and the passionate lovers of the industries’ finest products from all over the world have already started counting days to the world’s most important event for the watch and jewellery sectors that will be held in Basel, Switzerland.
Once again, the best that these ever growing industries have to offer, including the latest innovation in technology and design, will be presented to more than 100,000 visitors of the event. After the several years of slowdown, caused by the global recession, the foregoing show in Basel has been rated as highly successful and it is expected that this trend will continue, despite Europe’s fiscal problems.
In 2011, 1,892 exhibitors from 45 countries showcased their latest products to the public. Furthermore, 3055 journalists attended the show, which is the biggest number ever. With 103,200 visitors, from more than 100 countries, Baselworld 2011 is the second most successful show in history (with the increase of 2.5% when compared to 2010). According to the show manager, Sylvie Ritter, that was one of the best BASELWORLD shows of all times.
The jubilee, 40th Watch and Jewellery Show will be the last one to be held in old halles. From the next year, watch and jewelery brands will exibit their latest products in the new hall complex. The 32-metre high steel structure for the building, over Exhibition Square for BASELWORLD 2013, is already in its place.
However, the constructions will be interrupted during the Baselworld 2012, thus the show will not be affected at all and every hall entrance will be available as usual. The main construction phase will start in April and, according to planes, work on the new infrastructure will be completed until February 2013, including the Hall 3 and the entrance zone of the Hall 1, which will be replaced with a new building.
