Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph Special Edition timepiece is one of the latest additions to the products palette of the watchmaker that earned world fame by producing the iconic Swiss army knives. It is a product which was inspired by the military look it tries to reproduce. Its design is dominated with angular lines while its face resembles a cockpit of a helicopter. The aesthetic appeal is supplemented with a technical quality, which is expected from a Swiss made mechanical chronograph.

Victorinox Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph Special Edition WatchThe new timepiece with the reference number 241530 is the latest addition from the Mechanical series and its sub-collection by the name Alpnach. It is a product whose design was largely influenced by the appearance of a Cougar helicopter and this sort of inspiration is visible in many details. Three diamond-cut chronograph subsidiary counters and its dial are made in a manner to resemble the instruments that are found in an aircraft. Furthermore, its crown and its bezel are similar to helicopter turbines, while the ergonomically shaped pusher that is located at the four o’clock place looks like a helicopter cycle stick. The final touch is its small seconds counter that offers a punctuality to a quarter of a second. This indication is made in order to evoke the look of a Cougar’s four-bladed rotor.

Victorinox Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph Special Edition WatchVictorinox Swiss Army Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph is made with a round case, made of 316L stainless steel with a Black Ice PVD finish, for even more powerful appearance. It has a very neat unidirectional rotating countdown bezel. This feature is actually a very handy one and it can measure the intervals up to 59 minutes. The principle is very simple, and to activate the countdown, its wearer turns the bezel to the desirable time period and when a minute hand watches the zero position, it means that the time is up. It is a very useful function and it can be used for countless everyday activities, such as keeping the track of parking meters or cooking. In accordance with the company’s usual practice, this watch has a sapphire crystal with triple glare-proof treatment that includes above the average resistance for scratching.

Partially Transparent Case Back with Two Indications

The heart and soul of this timepiece is its self-winding mechanical ETA Valjoux 7750 movement which incorporates 25 jewels and has a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. Its chronograph includes three subsidiary dials that are used to measure intervals up to 60 seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours. The dial of the new Vicotinox Swiss Army chrono timepiece also includes a tachymetric scale. Its Black Ice dial also includes luminescent hour and minute hands, a skeleton sweeping second hand with a red tip, as well as a day and date indication, located at the three o’clock position.

Victorinox Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph Special Edition WatchVicorinox Swiss Army Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph Special Edition timepiece has another peculiar trait. The back of the case is fixed with screws, but it is also partially transparent, and has two apertures that also indicate a day and a date. The construction of the product enables water resistance to 100 meters. It is also worth noting that the new special edition of the Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph has a special synthetic black strap, made from the tough material that Victorinox uses in the construction of its travel gear.

It´s a true privilege to wear this fine watch around your wrist. It has a very unusual, but at the same time fine strap which looks great in combination with the brown dial of the watch. That´s a winning combination for sure. I think that any true fan of Victorinox watches will love this new Alpach Mechanical Chronograph watch.

  2. Cory Roberts June 18, 2012

The best thing on this watch is definitely the movement ETA Valjoux 7750. It has 25 jewels and a power reserve of approximately 42 hours, which is simply brilliant. I can´t remember if Victorinox have ever had a similar watch, I don´t think so. I don´t know what the price of the watch will be, but it´s sure that it´ll be very high.

  3. Danny Fish June 18, 2012

Cory, I don´t think that the price will be very high. It´s a Victorinox watch, they don´t have any expensive watches. But I like this model, I must admit. It looks very nice and most of all, its movement and other features are just perfect. Any person who buys it will be very happy because of that. This is definitely a quality watch.
