The Swiss manufacturer, Ulysse Nardin, has teamed with HBO to create the official Game of Thrones watch. The new watch is the limited edition version of the brand’s Marine Diver and it will be available just before the show’s third season finale in June.
True Fans of HBO’s critically-acclaimed drama can now prove their allegiance to the fantasy medieval world by putting the new watch on their wrists. The new watch is called “The Night’s Watch” and it is based on Ulysse Nardin’s “Black Sea” diving chronograph.
This newcomer is housed in a large stainless steel case with the diameter of 45.8mm. Its masculine case is coated with matte black vulcanized rubber and attached to a black rubber strap with a wave motif.
The strap has two ceramic links which are inscribed with the familiar phrases “The Night’s Watch” and “I am the Sword in the Darkness”.
The wave-pattern decoration features the bezel, as well as the dial surface. For this limited edition timepiece, the high-end watchmaker used vibrant red color for the numeral markers, hands, as well as for the power reserve sub-dial and a the small seconds counter.
The case is shielded with a sapphire crystal on both sides and constructed to resist water pressure down to 200 meters (about 660 feet). The sapphire glass case back is engraved with the Game of Thrones logo.
The beating heart of the Game of Thrones watch is the Swiss-made automatic movement that provides the usual set of functions (hour, minute and small seconds), as well as date and power reserve functionality.
The Collaborations Between Ulysse Nardin and the HBO’s Emmy Winning Series
The vice president of sales and marketing for Ulysse Nardin, Nelson Lucero said: “We are thrilled to be teaming up with HBO to create a unique product inspired by one of their most popular dramas. We feel the watch truly captures the essence of precision and the fortitude of the Night’s Watch.”
“When I first announced the project to our board of directors, I was surprised by all the amazing feedback. It was the first time I realized the show had a worldwide following”, Lucero commented.
Also speaking about the collaborations, the HBO director of licensing and retailing, Josh Goodstadt, added: “This is a truly unique collaboration and we are pleased to expand the Game of Thrones brand into this new market.”
The official Game of Thrones timepiece will be available in two physical stores in New York: the new HBO store at 42nd St and 6th Avenue and in Cellini Jewelers. The retail price is $10,500. The new watch is produced in limited series of only 25 pieces. The bad news for all fans is that only 21 pieces (or 22, I am not sure) will be available for purchase because 3 or 4 are already reserved by HBO executives.
