For six consecutive years, Ulysse Nardin is the official sponsor of the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show. To commemorate this year’s event, the Le Locle based manufacturer launched a new Marine Diver Monaco Limited Edition Watch. Like the previous Monaco editions, this year’s Monaco Diver is limited to 100 individually numbered pieces each individually engraved and numbered.
Every detail on this novelty evokes the marine world in which the Swiss watchmaker is steeped, starting with Ulysse Nardin’s anchor emblem representing the brand’s nautical heritage and which is proudly situated between 2 and 3 o’clock positions. Although the watch exudes modern style, it still echoes the style of the old marine chronometers with details, such as the repeating sailing ship-like pattern on the deep blue dial and the blue wave motif on the bezel (besides the mentioned brand’s anchor emblem).
The watch boasts a unidirectional rotating bezel which nicely rounds the dial. Its deep blue dial comprises large hour-markers and hands which are coated with white-emission luminescent substance and a red stripe, to provide perfect legibility in all kinds of lighting conditions. There is also a small seconds sub-dial which is displayed at the 6 o’clock position. A small seconds counter incorporates a date window, while the power reserve indicator is located on the opposite side, at the 12 o’clock position.
Marine Diver Monaco Limited Edition 2014 is housed in a round case which is crafted from stainless steel and designed to withstand extreme conditions. The sporty case measures 44mm in diameter and it is equally appropriate to sail above the seas, and to dive beneath them. The new Monaco Marine Diver limited edition timepiece is able to dive to depths of 300 meters (about 1,000 feet). This exceptional level of water resistance has been achieved thanks to the screw-locked case back and crown.
The reverse side of the watch reveals an engraving of a boat surrounded by the inscriptions: “Conquer the ocean” and “Monaco”. This embellishes a new case designed for extreme conditions, extended by the lugs with their sleek lines.
The watch is equipped with the in-house manufactured caliber UN-26 automatic movement which offers the usual functions of central hours and minutes, small seconds, as well as the date and the power reserve functionality. The self-winding movement offers 42 hours of power reserve guaranteeing an optimal precision.
Ulysse Nardin Marine Diver Monaco Limited Edition Watch (ref. 263-10LE-3/93_MON) comes with a blue rubber strap with red details and titanium elements, fitted with a deployant clasp. The retail price is $8,600.
