Earlier this year, at the Baselworld 2015, we have seen an impressive commercial timepiece named the Anchor Tourbillon. Now, this model comes with a more appealing, translucent blue dial surface which has been both engraved and enameled. The latest Ulysse Nardin Anchor Tourbillon is available in either white or rose gold version.
This gorgeous newcomer is inspired by the depths of the deep blue sea and boasts a special type of tourbillon that comprises the constant Ulysse Anchor escapement which is entirely crafted of silicon and designed by the principles of flexible mechanisms, thus exploiting the elasticity of flat springs.
The enamel dial of the watch is handcrafted in-house at Donzé Cadrans, a Ulysse Nardin subsidiary company. The enameling technique is specialized and mastered only by a few master artisans. The intricate process powders pores in the surface metal with enamel and then melts it, before hand-sanding by the master-enameller to a shine.
The hues on the dial are perfectly complemented by the 18-karat rose gold case, but it also goes excellent with white gold case. The beautiful blue dial features undulating wave pattern that suggests a clamshell. Its dial also comprises Arabic numerals and indices which mark hours and seconds.
The new Ulysse Nardin Anchor Tourbillon measures 44mm in diameter. The watch is powered with the in-house manufactured caliber UN-178 tourbillon movement which oscillates at the frequency of only 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz). This exceptional movement earlier won the Tourbillon Watch Prize from the 2015 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève – GPHG.

The mechanism is equipped with the double-barrel system and is capable to provide at least 7 days of power reserve. A power reserve display is situated at the 6 o’clock position, just below the central hours and minutes hands. The impeccable movement is built on 29 jewels.
Both sides of the watch – its face and the case-back are shielded with a sapphire crystal. The water resistance is assured down to 30 meters (about 100 feet). The last, but not the least, the watch comes with an elegant, leather strap, ending with a simple buckle.
As I have already mentioned, the new Ulysse Anchor Tourbillon is available in rose and white gold variants (with the referent numbers 1780-133/E3 and 1786-133/E3). Both options are produced in the limited quantity of only 18 specimens each. Depending on a model, the retail price is $85,000 for the rose gold version and $89,000 for the white gold variant.
