The Swiss manufacturer, Ulysse Nardin, honors the America’s Cup with its New Classico America timepiece also showing support of the 35th America’s Cup as an official partner of Team Artemis Racing.

In August 1851, the members of the New York Yacht Club (NYYC) raced the “America” schooner to victory in England’s Royal Yacht Squadron’s 100 Pound Cup. After that, the trophy was renamed the America’s Cup to celebrate and honor the winning vessel. Interestingly, this trophy is the oldest one in international sporting and it remains the most important yachting competition so far. The America’s Cup is much more than a race – it is also a symbol of design innovation.

Ulysse Nardin Classico America which honors the original “America” is issued in two limited editions of 30 pieces each. The choice is between 18-karat rose gold and 18-karat white gold case (their referent numbers are 8152-111-2/AMERICA and 8150-111-2/AMERICA).

This exquisite timepiece features an enamel cloisonné dial which displays an authentic depiction of the America in all its glory, with the Isle of Wight as its backdrop. The enameling technique is handcrafted in-house by the masters at Donzé Cadrans, a member of the Ulysse Nardin group of companies. This rare art form is mastered by very few artisans. Every cloisonné dial requires at least 50 hours of artisan expertise and 26 different processes to be completed.

The 40mm case of the Classico America watch is protected from the front side with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, while from the rear there is an open sapphire crystal case back fixed with screws which reveals the secrets of Ulysse Nardin’s beautiful watchmaking tradition. The beating heart of the new Ulysse Nardin timepiece is the in-house manufacturer caliber UN-815 that offers circa 42 hours of power reserve. The self-winding mechanism comes with Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) certification. The movement is protected against the ingress of water up to 50 meters (approximately 165 feet).

The last, but not the least, the watch comes with a matching blue leather strap which completes the overall look.
