An English footballer, Michael Owen, is certainly one of the world’s most respected footballers. During the last 13 years he has also been with a Tissot as its ambassador. This year, the Swiss watchmaker presented the Tissot Couturier GMT Michael Owen Limited Edition 2011 at the world’s biggest watch and jewelry show in Basel.

Tissot Couturier GMT Michael Owen Limited Edition 2011 WatchProduced in limited quantity of 4,999 pieces, the design of this new timepiece integrates black, white and red, the colors of Michael Owen’s soccer team – Manchester United. It also has the player’s jersey number seven, framing his signature on the case back.

The sophisticated lines and materials of new Couturier GMT watch come with a proven watchmaking expertise. Its round case, with 41 mm in diameter and the thickness of 11.51 mm, is crafted in stainless steel and accompanied by a modern black leather strap, with a butterfly clasp with push-buttons. The model T035.439.16.031.01 is very resistant to scratching, since it is protected with a sapphire crystal. This Tissot provides water resistance up to 100 meters.

Tissot Couturier GMT Michael Owen Limited Edition 2011 WatchThe Tissot Couturier GMT Michael Owen Limited Edition 2011 watch is equipped with the Swiss-made G10.961 chronograph movement which accommodates the second time zone that is both easy to set and to read. The second time zone display is set by pushers, as opposed to a crown, which means that all you have to do is to tap either of the pushers in order to move the second time zone hour hand forward or backward.

Placed at the 10 o’clock position on the dial, a 24-hour circle connects with the main hour and minute hands, at the centre of the dial. The new GMT mechanism incorporates two hands into the 2 o’clock counter. These show the minutes and hours of the chronograph, measuring time periods up to 12 hours with a resolution of one second. The smaller third sub-dial counts time up to 60 seconds and it is set at the 6 o’clock position. The date window is positioned at the 4 o’clock.

The dimensions and quartz movement of this new limited edition watch are the same as on the previous version of the Tissot Couturier GMT, but the design is aesthetically much more different. This watch from the T-Trend collectionhas an authentic sporty feel. One of the chronograph counters is surrounded by a bold black circle, which resembles spinning footballs while approaching at speed. Another one has red markings that bring to a further touch of dynamism and also reflect a lifestyle of the world traveler, Michael Owen.

The red color appears as the background on the case back, on the second hand and on the elegant stitching on the leather strap. Finally, raised indices complete the picture of uncompromising attention to details.

Michael OwenA 31 year-old Michael Owen (till December 14) started his professional career in Liverpool, then he moved to Real Madrid, Newcastle United and now his team is Manchester United. Owen was the Liverpool’s top goal scorer from 1997 – 2004, and also the England’s youngest player and the youngest goal scorer of the 1998 senior England National team. Because of the injury, he missed to be a part of the English World Cup squad in South Africa in 2010.

As he once said, “Tissot has supported me through the good times and the not so good times.” and this year’s Tissot Couturier GMT Michael Owen Limited Edition watch represents the continuation of the successful partnership between the Swiss watchmaker and the English football player.

Hi Shyam. Unfortunately, this model is no longer available. You can look some other interesting Tissot sports watches, such as Couturier Chronograph and Veloci-T Automatic Chronograph Watch.
