The Swiss-based watchmaker Tissot will be the official timekeeper for the MotoGP Championship for the thirteenth consecutive year. Tissot has launched its two official MotoGP limited edition watches for 2012 to mark the official timekeeping of the world’s premier motorcycle racing championship.
Tissot T-Race MotoGP Limited Edition 2012 series comprises two watches; an automatic and a quartz model. The automatic MotoGP model driven by the revolutionary C01.211 chronograph movement is limited to only 2,012 pieces, while the quartz version has been produced in a series of 8,888 specimens. They both combine the Swiss watchmaker’s precision with the robustness of the bikes themselves.
Each of these two wristwatches features the striking and dynamic black based silicone strap with a yellow aerodynamic T-line that races around the wrist. Both colors and design are inspired by the powerful MotoGP vehicles.
The latest members of the T-Race family boast round cases with the diameters of 45.3 mm each (the same size like the last year’s model – Tissot T-Race MotoGP Limited Edition 2011). Their masculine cases are made from the top-grade 316L stainless steel with a black PVD coating.
The case of the MotoGP 2012 incorporates a black GMT rotating bezel which illustrates the bike’s break disc.
On the right side of the case, there is a protected screw-down crown and two chronograph push pieces. The eye-catching case comes with an engraved see-through case back (at the automatic model). For the long life of the watch, Tissot coated the case with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The special exclusivity is a magnifying lens for a date window.
The New Watch that Helps You to Be in First Place at Every Sensational Race of the Season
Underneath the front sapphire glass, there is a dashboard-inspired dial with three sub-dials. The hour and minute hands are filled with luminous materials, while a large second hand is colored in a striking yellow. The bicolor (black and white) dial of the automatic model features two chronograph counters for measuring time up to 30 minutes and 6 hours. Chronograph sub-dials are situated at 12 and 6 o’clock positions. A small seconds sub-dial is located at the 9 o’clock position. The dial of the quartz T-Race MotoGP 2012 comprises a 1/10 second chronograph counter located at the 2 o’clock position and on the opposite side, at the 10 o’clock position, there is a 30 minute chrono sub-dial. The third sub-dial is actually a small seconds counter. Lastly, a tachymeter scale nicely rounds the dial surface.
Whichever version you choose (the automatic model with the referent number T048.427.27.052.01 or the quartz version with the referent number T048.417.27.202.01) it will be presented in a MotoGP checkered flag collector’s box.
