There is only one Tag Heuer Red Silverstone Calibre 11 Chronograph and it was sold for £10,000 on Bonham‘s Auction in London. Buying this unique watch, lucky owner practically donated money to the Green Cross international.
The Red Silverstone Calibre 11 Chronograph was made for a special occasion –150th birthday of Tag Heuer. The watch is based on the 2010 re-edition of the legendary vintage Silverstone timepieces. This motor-racing collection takes the important part in remarkable brand’s tradition and Swiss watchmaker decided on its jubilee to revive racing spirit from 1970’.
So, the iconic Silverstone is born again throughout the new Tag Heuer’s Silverstone Calibre 11 Chronograph watches, which are either blue or brown and come in limited edition. Basically, the Red Silverstone is just another color variation in this re-edition, but if we consider the fact that TAG crafted only one piece of that variation, it immediately becomes a lot more then a nice looking watch.
The original Silverstone timepiece was presented in 1974, as another Heuer’s hi-quality mechanical watch, inspired by the world of racing. This time, the inspiration and the name came from the famous UK racetrack, which disserves the special place in company’s history. Silverstone has never reached the popularity of the brand’s number one – Monaco racing watch. However, thanks to the unique concept, it has become one of the most wanted items among collectors.
Original Silverstone design
Creating the new Silverstone Calibre 11 Chronograph watch, Tag Heuer preserved the original design. Swiss watchmakers have kept authentic soft edges of the nicely polished, stainless steel square case. Graphics, hour and minute indexes on the stylish red dial are also the same, while the elegant alligator strap and polished crown come with the old Heuer’s inscription.
The Tag Heuer Red Silverstone Calibre 11 Chronograph features a “Jack Heuer” signature on the dial (Jack Heuer is a legendary leader of the Swiss company, who is directly responsible for brand’s iconic creations – Monaco, Carrera, Monza, Autavia, Silverstone, Montreal, Daytona, and many others).
This ‘one of a kind’ watch is powered by legendary in-house Caliber 11, the first automatic chronograph with micro-rotor. This highly accurate movement provides chronograph and date functions – the 60 second counter is at 3 o’clock position, while the 30 minute counter is located at 9 o’clock. Date window at 6 o’clock, framed by white, also caries out the original look from 70’s.
Only £10,000 for this watch! It was more than a good investment. I can bet that this Silverstone very soon is going to cost a fortune.
This is a very unusual and very interesting watch. Although it looks a bit lost, this watch has a very good performance and accessories. Its design is extremely good. The dial color and the leather strap look excellent! I love it!
I like the small holes on the leather strap. They look cool and stylish. I like the color, too. It gives the watch a certain amount of dynamism. A great job from Tag Heuer`s manufactures.
Although this watch is for older people, as it seems at first sight, I like it very much, and I`m 21 years old. This watch looks very nice and elegant. And I agree with Billy, the color is fantastic.
