Something new in Formula 1 Collection! Instead of using a quartz movement, the latest model in the men’s family is powered with a Calibre S – an electro-mechanical movement, completely developed by Tag Heuer. This advanced technology, inspired by sports car’s instruments, perfectly fits with the modern sporty design that deeply characterizes the collection. Everything is in a total harmony; style, usability and finally, functionality. Adjusted to count elapsed time, Formula 1 Calibre S Chronograph is accurate to 1/100 of a second.

TAG Heuer Formula 1 Calibre S Chronograph WatchIt is not a mechanical watch, but, technologically speaking, it is quality enough to be considered as a step forward for Formula 1 Line. Not only that the Calibre S provides great precision and functionality, but it also allows great designer’s solutions with a modern and easy-to-read interface that follows this technology.

This hybrid movement that combines the quartz and mechanical legacy of timekeeping (quartz tractor, mechanical chronograph module) uses five independent bidirectional motors (for moving hands on retrograde counters) and 230 components, oscillating at the frequency of 32,768 Hz.

The Calibre S has two modes, the Time Mode and the Chronograph Mode, which enable instant switch between the usual time/calendar and the stop watch function, just by a click. In the Chrono Mode, this interesting technology set central hands to count chronograph hours, seconds and minutes. At the same time, two half lunar counters measure elapsed time, with 1/10 and 1/100 of a second accuracy. In the Time Mode, these counters show date, using the perpetual calendar, applicable until 2099. Large luminescent markers on the black dials make all functions highly readable.

Superb Water-Resistance

The design of Tag Heuer Formula 1 Calibre S Chronograph is bold, masculine and sporty, as we could expect. Its case is larger than in some previous models, with the diameter of 44 mm, and it is made of fine-brushed stainless steel. The case incorporates a screw-in crown with an “easy grip” system and double gaskets, covered with black titanium carbide. Besides, there is a unidirectional turning bezel, made of polished steel and coated with black PVD that also contributes to the great water-resistance up to 200 meters (660 feet). Additional protection also comes with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

TAG Heuer Formula 1 Calibre S Chronograph WatchFormula 1 Calibre S Chronograph watches are available either with a black rubber strap with a pin buckle, or with a nice bracelet, crafted in fine-brushed stainless steel. Both versions have all qualities to become hits among passionate lovers of true sport watches and the advanced technology.

This is a nice combination, a black rubber strap and stainless steel with great water resistance of 660 feet. I like the bezel because it has large Arabic numerals. They give this watch a sporty character.

  2. Damon Adams November 3, 2011

Yes, Alec, this is a nice sporty piece, but I’m a fan of stainless steel material and my favorite is the other model of this watch.

  3. Ian Owen November 3, 2011

I agree with Alec that this watch has great water resistance and an interesting sporty bezel. The watch has a lovely dial, but I saw many better chronographs with more useful features on this blog.
