The Tag Heuer Carrera Mikrograph 1/100th of a Second Chronograph features the brand’s newest technological miracle – a dual assortment mechanical movement, with the world first column wheel integrated mechanical chronograph, which shows the 1/100th of a second. This remarkable accuracy is tracked by the central blue Chrono hand.
With the Carrera Mikrograph, Tag reinvented its revolutionary Calibre 360, the first automatic chronograph in the world, with a 1/ 100th second accuracy. New advanced mechanism was another revolutionary breakthrough in the watchmaking industry. Unlike the Calibre 360, which was modular, the Mikrograph 1/100th is a fully integrated COSC certified movement, completely designed, patented, developed and manufactured by Tag Heuer.
However, Carrera Mikrograph 1/100th has a lot of similarities with the Calibre 360. This masterpiece of “Haute Horlogerie”, with 62 jewels and 396 components, incorporates two different balance wheels, with separate escapements and transmission systems, that allow chronograph works independently of watch functions.
Also, two cylinders provide separated storage of power for a chronograph (90-minute power reserve) and a watch (42-hour power reserve). Both barrels are supplied with power at the same time, by winding the crown manually.
The high frequency balance wheel for the stop-watch oscillates at 50 hertz (360’000 vibrations per hour), which gives the amazing accuracy. Balance wheel for the watch moving oscillates at 4 hertz (28’800 vibrations per hour).
Watch dial is designed to enable the highest usability of advanced features. Amazingly easy-to-read chronograph scale on the white outer rim displays tenths and hundreds of a second. Striking central hand makes a full circle every second, counting time with 1/100th second accuracy.
Gold 43mm Case
Central, brown part of the dial features three sub-dials – minutes counter is at 3 o’clock, a chronograph second counter is located at 6, while a small second counter takes 9 o’clock position. The dial of the Carrera Mikrograph watch also includes a chronograph power reserve percentage indicator at 12 o’clock.
A solid gold 43mm case perfectly matches the dark brown leather strap, accomplishing amazing aesthetic touch of Tag’s classic design. Watch is covered with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal on both sides, which allows the clear look on the innovative mechanism.
This revolutionary sport timepiece pays a tribute to the brand’s legendary stopwatch of 1916, Heuer Mikrograph, which changed the entire world of racing sport, with almost impossible accuracy for its time, to 1/50th and 1/100th of a second.
The Tag Heuer Carrera Mikrograph 1/100th of a Second Chronograph, which is presented at SIHH 2011, is crafted for a limited number of brand’s admirers, who are ready to pay $50,000 for the highest precision on their wrists.
It`s very interesting how this watch leaves a strong impression on anyone who sees it. The group of wachmakers has really done a nice job this time. This watch represent a new masterpiece from Tag Heuer, it`s their biggest success so far. I must say one more thing, this watch is made for my taste because I`m a fan of watches with red gold cases or bracelets.
I have been waiting for something like this for a long time, and now I can finally complete my dream and buy this watch, but not for me. It will be a gift to my brother who wants it for a couple of months and I intend to make him happy. The only thing I can add to my brother’s wish is that he has a good taste, no doubt.
This combination of a brown leather strap and a white – brown dial looks very nice. Besides, there is a red gold case which also looks great. Functions are also incredible. I like the power resistance, especially the fact that it has 90 minutes for chronograph.
