Tag Heuer is one of the main sponsors of the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which automatically means there is a new limited edition of driving watches, specially created for this remarkable event. Three Goodwood FOS TAG Heuer Carreras (two Calibre 16 41mm Chronographs and an 43mm Day-Date Chronograph) are waiting to be discovered by motor-racing enthusiasts.

TAG Heuer Carrera Festival of Speed Watches
Held at the famous Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, England (June 28 – July 1, 2012), the Festival of Speed is one of the world’s largest motoring events that promotes the unique idea of bringing together such a diverse collection of cars and motorbikes, including the most advanced Formula 1 racers and supercars, fire-breathing monsters, modern day WRC challengers, as well as the 19th century’s steam-powered carriages and classic rally cars. Off course, along with the rarest, the fastest, the most renowned and the most exotic cars on the planet, the FOS will gather the motor sport ‘royalty’, including some of the greatest racing stars. Thus, you can easily imagine how important this event is for the Swiss watchmaker, having in mind its closest possible relationship with the world of motor sport.
Although the new FOS Carrera 43mm Day-Date Chronograph is basically the same model as the Carerra Calibre 16 Monaco Grand Prix Limited Edition watch that Tag Heuer has released last month (read my review here), it is not such visually spectacular. However, this does not mean that new timepieces will not find their fans. As a matter of fact, the combination of an anthracite dial and racing strips that recall vintage driving suits has a great potential to be accepted among the brand’s younger fans. Besides, each model possesses the Goodwood Festival of Speed logo, nicely integrated inside the small seconds sub-dial at the 9 o’clock position, which is a pretty cool feature.

Everything else is pretty much the same. Inside a boldly looking, 43 mm case, made of stainless steel, there is a Calibre 16 self-winding chronograph movement (ETA 7750) that indicates time, chronograph minutes and hours, as well as day and date. Furthermore, the black bezel features the tachymeter scale for calculating speed.
The Carrera Goodwood FOS Speed Edition 43 mm Day-Date Chronograph (CV2A1J) is distinctive by two vertical red stripes with a white outline on an anthracite dial and red tips on chronograph hands that match with red stitching on a black leather strap. Like other two models from the FOS Speed Edition, this watch is available only in the UK. Its price goes around GBP 3,750.
The most beautiful model from the edition is a CV201AD watch that features a “starburst” anthracite dial with a subtle white stripe on the left side. Black sub-dials perfectly fit the black bezel and an elegant alligator strap. Finally, there is a central seconds hand in the striking red. This is true beauty. Made in 250 pieces, TAG Heuer Goodwood FOS Carrera 41 mm is available for GBP 2995.

The second Calibre 16 FOS Carrera 41 mm watch (CV201AE) has the same surface, but this time, it is combined with a broad horizontal white stripe and a thinner red stripe. This arrangement makes the dial looks pretty different, with two striking chrono counters and an almost unnoticeable small seconds sub-dial. This model is also produced in the Limited Series of 250 pieces and has the same price as the previously reviewed model.
