Tag Heuer brings back the golden age of watchmaking, by launching the Carrera Heritage Collection. Beautiful vintage watches that celebrate the glorious brand’s tradition are presented at World biggest watch show, Baselworld 2011.
After it had sent as into the future with the Mikrotimer Flying 1000 Concept Chronograph, Tag presented something ‘less unreal’, but still quality and stylish. The Carrera Heritage Collection includes classic looking automatic and chronograph watches, inspired by the iconic racing model from 1964.
Tag Heuer nicely reinterpreted elements from the past – highly polished case, a“flinque” dial finish, striking colored numerals, the monochrome brand’s logo – to ensure an elegant simplicity and purity of the famous collection. The polished and raised Arabic numerals, the pushbutton, digits, crown and index designs are taken over from 1945 edition of Heuer watches.
The great inspiration for this series of sport watches, Swiss watchmaker also found in its masterpiece, the Carrera Calibre 1887 Chronograph (awarded at the Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève, as the Best Watch of the Year 2010).
Six Automatics and Two Chronographs
The Tag Heuer Carrera Heritage Automatic watches come in six variations. Each of them has a 39 mm case and the automatic Calibre 6 movement. Two chronograph models from the Carrera Heritage edition are available with a 41 mm case and the Calibre 16 movement. They have two sub-dial counters, for 12 hours and 60 seconds.
These watches are either made of steel, steel and gold or steel and rose gold. They are available with an alligator strap or with a bracelet, made of 5-row alternate fine-brushed and polished steel. Throughout the sapphire crystal case-back, you can enjoy in perfect movements of Tag’s mechanism.
The Carrera collection got the name after the famous 1950s race across Mexico, the Carrera Panamericana. Ever after the first model was made, Swiss watchmaker has been expanding this collection, in the authentic racing spirit, taking care about the highest precision, shock resistance and easy readability.

This Carrera Automatic, with a blue strap and blue hands is absolutely gorgeous. What a style! Amazing. Exactly what I have expected from Tag.
To be honest, I don’t expect this from Tag. Actually, I hate those reproductions. They look great and posses that sentimental value, but is this really the best that Tag can do? Reproduction of Monza, reproduction of Carrera, reproduction of Silverstone. Come on, show as some creativity. Those historic models had to stay unique, just the way they are, not advanced and modern.
