At the upcoming SIHH 2017 watch show, Baume & Mercier will present the latest evolution of its Clifton collection. The new flagship Clifton model dubbed Clifton GMT Power Reserve features two useful complications – a GMT or second time zone and power reserve.
The latest addition to the range comes with a striking blue dial, thus joining the standard black and white variants.
Underneath the front sapphire glass lies a satin-finished blue sunburst dial featuring a new dial layout with the centrally positioned hours, minutes, and seconds, and three separate complications. The arched GMT time indicator is positioned at the 12 o’clock position. As you can see on the image above, there is a white half of the hand and the white track which indicate hours 6 through 18, while the red half indicates hours 18 through 6. Besides two-arc GMT time indicator, there is also a date window which is situated at the 3 o’clock position, while the 42-hour power reserve display is placed at the 6 o’clock position and framed by a steel box.
Baume & Mercier Clifton GMT Power Reserve is housed in an elegant stainless steel case with alternating brushed and polished surfaces, measuring 43mm in diameter. The case is protected with domed sapphire crystal on the front, and with sapphire crystal on the back. The water resistance is assured down to 50 meters (approximately 165 feet).
The new Clifton GMT Power Reserve (ref. M0A10316) is powered by the caliber Soprod 9035 automatic movement with custom oscillating weight. The accurate and efficient ETA-clone movement operates at the rapid frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour (4 Hz) and it is encrusted in the spirit of the finest watchmaking traditions including circular-grained finished plate and bridges, blued steel screws, and oscillating weight decorated with Côtes de Genève.
The newest member of the Clifton collection comes with a black alligator leather strap with square scales and an adjustable triple folding clasp. Considering the fact that the new watch features two very useful complications, it is a quite affordable piece. The retail price is 3,400 Swiss francs and it will be available starting from April 2017.
