For the upcoming SIHH 2014, Parimigiani has prepared an elegant Parmigiani Pomellato Tonda Watch. This novelty represents the alliance between the famous Swiss watchmaker and the prestigious Italian jeweler, Pomellato. The exquisite ladies’ watch named Tonda Pomellato is inspired by the ornamental styles of the Italian company and it is the fruit of successful collaboration between two well-known brands.

Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Pomellato Watch
Tonda Pomellato perfectly combines extraordinary expertise of both companies. The watch is based on the slim line cues of the Parmigiani Tonda 1950 dress watch. The new line comprises four timepieces and each of them is housed in a rose gold case. The feminine case measures 39mm in diameter and only 8.4mm in thickness.
Three of the four models are inspired by Pomellato’s Arabesque line of jeweler. Their dials feature a silk-screened arabesque pattern, and there is a choice between white and dark gray color. The white dial model can be purchased with our without the diamond set bezel, while the dark gray version comes with diamonds set on the lugs. These Arabesque models are graced with 28 diamonds (weighing 0,435 karats).

To capture the arabesque and reproduce the delicate interplay of light and dark, all the nuances had to be created through the dial work. The watchmaking center’s specialized manufacture, Quadrance et Habillage, reproduced the arabesque motif in two distinct treatment steps with a technique known as “épargnage” (meaning – protection) in which a protective coating is applied. In the first step, the whole dial gets an opaline surface treatment of great brilliance.
The second step is to superimpose a silkscreen printed transfer which covers the opaline according to the voluted arabesque motif. After that, the second sand-blasting treatment is applied to all the surfaces not covered by the transfer. After these processes, the fields that the transfer has “shielded”, present an opaline surface whereas the second treatment gives a sand-blasted effect to the rest.

The fourth and the most eye-catching variant of the Tonda Pomellato timepiece is inspired by the Milanese jeweller’s Capri collection. This watch pays homage to the colors of the Mediterranean with its turquoise dial. The turquoise model boasts a diamond-set case and a ruby cabochon which is set on its crown and compliments the dial hue. Its case is encrusted with 112 diamonds (circa weighing 1.085 carats).
