The renowned Swiss watchmaker launched an extraordinary sport watch, whose only downside lies in a fact that it comes in the limited edition. Thus, only 500 lucky aficionados in the brand’s sport models will have a chance to purchase a bold looking Master Compressor Chronograph Ceramic. Presented at the 2014 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, this contemporary timepiece is, unfortunately, the only sport model among refined Jaeger-LeCoultre’s novelties. I said unfortunately, since JLC really knows how to make a perfect men’s chronograph.
New Jaeger-LeCoultre watch is a part of the brand’s well known Master Compressor Collection which is distinctive for the unique “Compressor” crown that, unlike screw-down crowns, can be locked and unlocked by a simple twist from one side to another. Once you did that, you will notice white indicators, meaning that the crown is locked, or the red one that indicates that you can wind a mechanism. The prominent metallic crown makes the watch case look even more robust. Made of black ceramic, the case has the large diameter of 46 mm which is perfect for the larger men’s wrist. It matches the color of a matt black dial which provides an exquisite legibility in the conjunction with white luminescent hour markers and metallic hands. For even higher readability, there is a striking red chrono hand.
You can notice the third central hand which serves for indicating time in the second time-zone. Two chronograph sub-dials display 12-hour and 30- minute time intervals, while the third sub-dial that includes a day/night indicator shows small seconds. Finally, there is a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock positions.
New Master Compressor Chronograph Ceramic watch is powered by an in-house Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 757. This self-winding chronograph movement beats at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and ensures a superb power-reserve of 65 hours. The watch is water-resistant up to 100 meters (330 feet) which will probably be more than enough for most of future owners of this contemporary timepiece. Available with a black “Trieste” calfskin leather strap with a textile look, JLC novelty will come with a price tag of around $15,000.
