At the upcoming Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2013 (SIHH), Roger Dubuis will present two new models for the Excalibur collection. Since the renewed Excalibur line was launched earlier this year, the visitors of the 23rd SIHH (from January 21 to January 25, 2013) will see a new Excalibur chronograph, as well as a new ladies diamond-paved Excalibur timepiece.
Excalibur 42 Chronograph
The new 42mm Excalibur chronograph from Roger Dubuis is equipped with the in-house manufactured Caliber RD681 automatic movement with a Roger Dubuis iconic micro-rotor. The mechanism is Geneva Seal certified and tested by Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC).
The new movement shares some similarities with the Caliber RD680 that is incorporated in La Monegasque Chronograph, presented in 2011, as well as in the Pulsion Chronograph which was introduced earlier this year. Compared to this mechanism, the new RD681 boasts an added date function. The highly accurate and reliable mechanism consists of 280 individual components and provides full 52 hours of power reserve. Also, it has a column wheel to activate the chronograph and show the measured time on a 30-minute sub-dial, located at the 3 o’clock position of the dial.
The new Excalibur 42 Chronograph that will be shown this January at SIHH 2013 is housed in a stainless steel case with the diameter of generous 42mm. This newcomer features a charming blue dial with typical Roger Dubuis Roman numerals and two sub-dials (30 minutes chrono and small seconds counter). A small date aperture is displayed at the 6 o’clock position.
Especially attractive details on this watch are the triple horns that attach the bracelet, as well as the fluted steel bezel. This watch will be available exclusively in the Roger Dubuis boutiques. Further information about the locations of their boutiques can be found at the Roger Dubuis website.
Excalibur 36 in Pink Gold
The second watch that will be shown at the SIHH 2013 is the feminine Excalibur 36 in pink gold that is encrusted with 672 diamonds totaling approximately 4.78 carats. These diamonds are set on its bezel (48 diamonds totaling around 0.99 carats) and bracelet (624 diamonds weighing approximately 3.79 karats) and they sparkle with the light of thousand fires.
This exquisite timepiece represents the avant-garde spirit that characterizes Roger Dubuis. It is powered by the in-house made Caliber RD821 mechanical movement that provides the usual set of functions (hour, minute and seconds). This mechanism consists of 172 parts and provides no less than 48 hours of power reserve when fully charged.
The pink gold extends all the way to the slender Roman numerals applied delicately on the white dial and around the small seconds counter which is located at the 6 o’clock position.
This watch is also certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), and stamped with the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva.
