Ralph Lauren will extend its Sporting World Time Collection with a new stainless steel version to be revealed at SIHH 2013, in the upcoming January. Featuring a rotating disk with the names of 24 world cities, this stylish sporty watch provides quick information about time in different zones. Along with its functionality, its robust size and modern design make it alluring option for the every-day wear of a dynamic man.
The 2013 Salon International de Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) is still pretty far off, but we already have a chance to see the newest Ralph Lauren’s timepiece that will be officially presented at the prestigious watch fair in Geneva. Ralph Lauren Sporting World Time watch features a masculine, 45mm case, crafted in brushed stainless steel. Although pretty robust, its thickness of just 11.5mm makes it suitable for the mid-sized man’s wrist. A bezel is fixed with 6 screws, which is along with screw-in lugs signature of the collection.
The RL’s watch incorporates three crowns. Bearing the brand’s logo, the one located at the 3 o’clock position controls time setting and winding. By the crown at the 10 o’clock position, you can set the disc with 24 time zones. It operates along with the second time-zone sub-dial and with the day/night indicator, located at the 6 o’clock position. Finally, there is a small crown at the 2 o’clock position for date setting and corrections. The date sub-dial also takes the central part of the nicely designed, dark blue dial, as well as the power-reserve indicator. Hours are indicated by transferred Roman numerals, while a white transferred railroad-style minutes track runs over the outer rim. Finally, hours and minutes are displayed by silvery Breguet-style hands, while thetiny, red central hand indicates seconds.
Through a sapphire crystal case-back, secured by 6 screws, one can see a Calibre RL 939 self-winding mechanism which is based on the Jaeger-LeCoultre JL 939 caliber found in the Master Geographic. It oscillates at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, featuring 300 parts and 34 jewels. Its main plate and bridges are finished with vertical Côtes de Genève and circular graining, while a rotor with vertical Côtes de Genève has a “Ralph Lauren” engraving. The RL 939 movement provides the power-reserve of 40-hours.
Ralph Lauren Sporting World Time watch is available with an alligator leather strap, with a brushed stainless steel pin buckle. It has solid water-resistance up to 100 meters (330 feet). This interesting model will cost $9,500.
