The luxury watchmaker created a new Calibre de Cartier watch that will be officially presented at the upcoming SIHH 2013. Featuring a new in-house chronograph mechanism, as well as a design code of the Calibre de Cartier Collection, this bold looking model will be available either in rose gold or stainless steel, with the choice of a leather strap or a matching bracelet.

Cartier Calibre Chronograph Watch Stainless Steel
Launched for the first time in 2010, the Calibre de Cartier Collection is now extended with the chronograph version that additionally emphasizes modern sporty style. Two chronograph sub-dials are nicely incorporated into a silvered opaline dial, keeping the symmetry of all its parts. Besides, you can notice chronograph pushers that perfectly match an extended crown structure, without spoiling the overall design of a case. A faceted blue synthetic spinel that adorns the seven-sided crown is a pretty interesting decorative element for the quick recall of the Cartier’s heritage.

Cartier replaced a minute scale from the dial to the inner rim of a tiny polished bezel, getting more space on the dial for a greater readability. The nicely designed dial features a central part with chrono counters and an outer part with a beautiful pattern, featuring Roman numerals (from 9 to 3) and hour markers (from 4 to 8). This distinctive style is one of the collection’s signatures, as well as the three-date aperture which is replaced on the 6 o’clock position. The 12-hour chronograph counter is located at the 9 o’clock position, while the 30-minute chrono counter takes the 3 o’clock position. Sword-shaped hands crafted in black oxidized steel are covered with a luminescent material.

The back-side of Cartier Calibre Chronograph reveals the new in-house mechanism, based on a Calibre 1904 MC. Visible through a sapphire crystal glass, there is a Calibre 1904-CH self-winding chronograph movement, oscillating at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz). Decorated with côtes de Genève finishes, this mechanism comprises 269 components, including a column wheel, a vertical clutch linear hammer for chronograph reset, ceramic ball bearings for rotor and double barrels for 48 hours of power-reserve.

The case diameter of 42mm seems like the perfect size for Cartier’s sport watch collection. You will be able to choose between an ultra-sporty version, with a steel case and a matching bracelet, and a more elegant version with a leather strap. A luxury, 18 karat rose gold version will be also available either with a matching bracelet or a stylish brown leather strap. The new Cartier Calibre Chronograph comes with the solid water-resistance up to 100 meters (330 feet).
