The new Grande Reverso 1931 Rouge timepiece celebrates the beauty and elegance of the extremely rare and sought-after vintage model from 1931. By offering a broad palette of dial colors back in 1930s, Jaeger-LeCoultre was a true avant-guard for the time. Still, iconic Grand Reverso watches with eye-catching red dials were the best representatives of the vivid period that was marked as the “Années Folles” (Crazy Years). This beautiful reinterpretation of this strong symbol of freedom and non-conventional spirit will be officially presented at the upcoming SIHH 2012 watch show, in Geneva.
Although they have been presented through classic, sporty Grande Complication and jewellery versions with several hundred dial combinations and powered by over 50 in-housed mechanisms, Reverso timepieces have never lost the extravagant note and distinctive Art deco aesthetics.
The new Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso 1931 Rouge watch comes with several changes that give it a unique look, but do not hide its origins. The biggest changes are done with a much larger case and a new mechanism. Made of stainless steel, the case is 46 mm long and 27.5 mm wide, but only 7.27 mm thick that makes it look compatible even on a smaller wrist.
In-House Extra Slim Mechanism
Inside the case, there is a Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822 hand-winding movement. It is extra-slim (just 2.94 mm thick), incorporating 21 jewels and 134 components. It oscillates at the frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of 45 hours.
A dial is deeper and darker than the original from 1931, having a beautiful red lacquered color. It features silver-toned applied markers for each hour, unlike the vintage model that has Arabic numerals for 6 and 12. Furthermore, Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso 1931 Rouge watch comes only with the word “Reverso” printed on the dial, without the name of the brand, like it was the case with the vintage model.
Like the Master Control collection, this ‘Boutique’ edition of Grande Reverso was tested for 1,000 hours, which is inscribed on the case back (the “1000 Hours Control” inscription). Along with Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre à Quantième Lunaire 40.5 Watch, this model will be the brand’s highlight at the upcoming Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) that will be opened from Monday, January 16 to Friday, January 20, 2012.
