Duomètre à Quantième Lunaire 40.5 watch is a new version of the extremely popular Jaeger-LeCoultre’s model from 2010 which will be presented at the upcoming watch show in Geneva, in January 2012. Featuring a smaller, more elegant case and the same, high quality features of the original, this 18 karat pink gold timepiece is a true masterpiece in terms of technology and design, and it should be the brand’s most striking product at the SIHH 2012.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre line offers superb precision thanks to the Caliber 381 “dual-wing” mechanism that incorporates two separate power- supplies. One is regulated by the escapement and balance, while the other stores energy for the time, date and moon-phase functions, as well as for a jumping foudroyante seconds hand with zero/reset system, displaying elapse time with 1/6th of a second accuracy.
Each ‘wing’ of the movement has a barrel with a power reserve of 50 hours. By winding the crown clockwise, you send power to the timing barrel (escapement), while the anti-clockwise rotation winds the power-reserve for the functions. Setting the time on Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre à Quantième Lunaire 40.5 Watch is also done via the crown.
A date function can be adjusted by the push button at the 10 o’clock position, while the corrector in the side of the case adjusts a moon-phase indicator. Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 381 is a superb hand-winding movement, completely crafted, assembled and decorated by hand. It comprises 367 components and 40 jewels and oscillates at the frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour.
A stylish, crystalline grained dial is so nicely designed that each function can be read with ease. It features three sub-dials: the moon-phase indicator for both hemispheres and the date indicator together take the upper left position on the dial, the sub-dial that indicates hour and minutes is located at the upper right position, while the sub-dials with the 1/6 of a second increments is located bellow them. Applied pink gold markers and hands are highly readable. Besides, they perfectly match polished and satin-brushed finishes of the case, leaving the impression that each single detail is in the right place.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre à Quantième Lunaire 40.5 Watch is covered with a sapphire crystal which is glare proofed on front and back. It is available with chocolate-toned alligator leather with an 18 karat gold pin buckle.
