A jeweled panther, trapped inside a double diamond ring, walks around the dark mother-of-pearl dial. Everything looks so simple and clear, still amazingly inventive and unusual. We are talking about the Cartier Masse Secrete Panther Decor Calibre 9603 MC watch that will be officially introduced at the upcoming SIHH 2012 watch show, in Geneva.
Innovative technology and extreme luxury are the main issues that characterize this beautiful ladies’ watch. Speaking about technology that allows a lively cat walk around the dial, it is based on an inverted oscillating weight on the dial side and the three-dimensional panther motif, secretly linked to it.
By oscillating at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, Cartier’s self-winding Calibre 9603 MC movement enables the smooth motion of the rhodiumized white gold panther figure, set with round diamonds. The transparent sapphire crystal case-back provides an open look at this advanced mechanism which comprises 204 components and 31 jewels and provides the power-reserve of 48 hours.
The outer rim of the black mother-of-pearl dial is completely paved with diamonds, as well as a case, a bezel, a beaded crown and an Ardillon, 18 karat rhodiumised white gold buckle. All together, 633 pieces of 6.8 karat sparkling stones beautify the timepiece, giving the glamorous look to every single part of it.
The rhodiumized 18 karat white gold case has the large diameter for a women’s watch (42 mm), but the great idea and glamorous elements justify the need for the over-sized watch. A black semi-matte alligator strap nicely follows the sophisticated elegance of the Cartier Masse Secrète Panther Décor timepiece and perfectly fits the color of the dial which is protected with a sapphire crystal glass. Although I hardly believe that this watch will be ever used in water, I will mention that it is resistant to pressure up to 30 meters (100 feet).
