The Power of Your Motion
One of Seiko’s trademark technologies joined the brand’s leading sport collection. The final product of this fusion is the Seiko Sportura Kinetic Direct Drive watch for men. The Kinetic Direct Drive movement transforms energy from a body movement into electricity which powers a watch and provides long-term accuracy and durability. This is exactly what Seiko needed for its Sportura watch collection.
Watches from the renowned sport line are also powered by automatic, quartz and original Kinetic movements, but Seiko’s Kinetic Direct Drive technology turned out to be the best solution for timepieces that demand the highest accuracy and a long-lasting power reserve. It forms a direct interplay between you and your watch, allowing you to control the energy level and, if it is necessary, to add power to the quartz battery.
The Seiko Kinetic technology in general takes the best of both, quartz and mechanical mechanisms. The rotor from the automatic caliber directly powers the battery with a converted Kinetic energy and gives superb precision of quartz movements (1 +/- second per day). However, the advances that come with the Kinetic Direct Drive movement make up some deficiencies of the originals.
Unlike the previous Kinetic movements, Seiko Kinetic Direct Drive has two winding functions. It generates power with the body motion, but also offers a crown for hand-winding. Another improvement comes with a direct drive indicator, which displays the energy storage, but this is not all. It also shows the level of added energy in the moment of winding. Thus, you have a chance to enjoy the direct transfer of energy, from the crown to the storage unit.
The Seiko Sportura Kinetic Direct Drive watch is powered by environmentally friendly Kinetic Caliber 5D22 Quartz Movement. It can generate power for 1 month and in this case, the hand points on “M”, at the top of the indicator. “W” is a sign for a week charge, “D” is for a day.
Motor-sport and Sportura
Men’s watches from the Sportura collection are inspired with the world of motor-sport and their design follows the racing spirit. The Seiko Sportura Kinetic Direct Drive watch has a large masculine case, made of solid stainless steel, with diameter of 49 mm. The boldly designed black dial features luminous hands and hour and minute markers, with Arabic 12 and 6.
A date window is at the 3 o’clock position, while a direct drive indicator, with a real time power reserve indicator takes the nine o’clock position. A black stationary bezel features Arabic numerals that indicate minutes.
The Seiko Sportura Kinetic Direct Drive watch has either a stainless steel or a black leather band; it is covered with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal and has water-resistance of 100 meters.
