The Ananta Collection of Seiko high-end men’s watches is inspired by the Katana and a long Japanese tradition of sword-making. This means that Seiko Ananta Automatic Chronograph watch is a product of the ancient craftsmanship, based on precision, sharpness and parabolic bends.
The Seiko used both, Spring Drive and Automatic movements, in order to develop a super-quality collection of sport watches. In both cases, the final results are remarkable. The finest art of watchmaking perfectly follows advanced technologies. Some passionate watch lovers could consider buying Ananta with the ‘miracle’ Spring Drive mechanism. However, the Seiko Ananta Automatic Chronograph gives so many qualities which, along with the significantly lower price, make this watch our favorite Ananta timepiece.
The heart of the watch is the Seiko’s self-winding caliber 8R28 chronograph movement. This remarkable mechanism has been used just in a few other models and today, it is only available in the Ananta Chronograph. It incorporates a column wheel and a vertical clutch, which contributes to higher chronograph durability and fast gear changes respectively.
The Seiko Caliber 8R28 comprises 34 jewels and 293 parts, it oscillates on the frequency of 28,800 bph and has a power-reserve of over 45 hours. Its chronograph function is really amazing. The mechanism has a one-piece three-pointed hammer which resets the chronograph instantly, making the watch more precise and functional. There is no need to mention that every single piece of this movement is made in Seiko’s manufactories, just like all other products of this renowned watchmaker.
Three Chronograph Sub-dials
The black dial features 60 seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours chronograph sub-dials, and a diagonally positioned date window. Luminous hour markers and watch hands represent the real works of art. Their sharp curves and edges reflect the unbroken quality of Katana swords and provide more legibility. The watch bezel features a tachymeter scale, for counting speed, according to distance.
Seiko Ananta Automatic Chronograph watches come in three variations. The newest one has a case and a bracelet made of high intensity titanium (SRQ009J1). Previous variations are made of stainless steel, with a hard coating and they feature either steel (SRQ003J1), or crocodile leather (SRQ005J1) band. The other features are mostly the same. The watch case has over-sized diameter of 46 mm and it is covered with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. It is water-proof up to 100 meters.
The unique watch construction reflects extraordinary skills of the best Seiko’s craftsmen. Made in sward-making spirit, each case of Ananta watches has an amazingly flat surface. This is the result of a special process of ‘blade’ polishing, in three stages. Also, a side of the case possesses a parabolic curve of Katana. Ananta is a Sanskrit term for ‘the infinite’. Seiko Ananta Automatic Chronograph men’s watches truly describe the infinite quality.
