Panerai extended its Historic Collection, with new Radiomir 8 Days Ceramica 45mm PAM00384 watches. The iconic vintage design, complemented with a new material and a stylish ‘all in black’ concept, make them ‘must haves’ among avid collectors.
Panerai Radiomir watches are famous for their amazing history. They were crafted to serve as highly precise, water-resistant and legible tools of Italian Commandos and Gamma forces. Some 50 years after the successful military service, the Radiomirs have become one of the brand’s key lines on the civil market.
New productions started in small series, with an important progress in quality, new cases and solutions for improving water-resistance, but the basic concept and traditional aesthetic impact were not altered. Today, the Radiomir range includes: the Radiomir 45 mm Black Seal, the Radiomir 8 Days, the Radiomir GMT, the Radiomir Regatta 1/8th Second Titanio – 47 mm and other models.
The Panerai Radiomir 8 Days Ceramica 45 mm men’s watches follow two Radiomir 8 Days editions (the PAM00268 in steel and the PAM00346 in titanium) and we consider them as the most attractive and the most authentic pieces in the line.
A Great Mechanism and a Tough Material
Its robust case is crafted in black zirconium oxide, a type of synthetic ceramic, with superb resistance to corrosive agents, high temperatures and scratches. This material is a good alternative for the titanium or stainless steel pieces. The black ceramic bezel and the black screw-down winding crown, with personalized OP, perfectly feet to a simple and unusual style.
There is a lot more to be said about its black color. It is also the color of the sandwich-style dial that features luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers, a date window at the 3 o’clock position, the seconds sub-dial at the 9 o’clock position and the linear power reserve indicator at the 6 o’clock position. Panerai personalized leather strap, with a large-size titanium buckle also comes in black color.
Radiomir 8 Days timepieces are powered by the Panerai P2002/3 Calibre hand-winding movement, the first movement entirely developed by Officine. This superb mechanism that enables the watch to work for 8 days without winding, was inspired by the Angelus movement of the 1940’s. This extraordinary feature is possible thanks to three spring barrels. The Calibre P2002/3 comprises 21 jewels and 225 components, incorporates monometallic Glucydur® balance and KIF Parechoc® anti-shock device and finally, it oscillates at frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour.
Perfect beats of the mechanism can be seen trough the transparent smoked sapphire crystal caseback. Sapphire also covers the front of the timepiece, providing a nice readability. The new PAnerai Radiomir 8 Days Ceramica 45 mm men’s watches have a solid water-resistance up to 100 meters (330 feet).
