Based on a classic look of Italian Navy watches from 50’s, new Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days hand-wound watch (PAM 372) perfectly carries out a rich heritage of the famous watchmaker.Officine Panerai combined once again a superb Swiss technology and sophisticated Italian design to craft highly reliable stylish watch in an oversized masculine shape.
Watch is powered by Panerai’s new P.3000 in-house movement, which can run for at least 72 hours with full wound, thanks to two spring barrels. It is built on 21 jewels, comprises 160 parts, and works at frequency of 21,600 vph. Perfect movements of mechanism can be seen trough sapphire crystal caseback. Implementation of the highest technology also provides a nice water-resistance of 100 meters.
The new Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days (PAM 372) keeps the classic black sandwich-style dial that provides outstanding high-contrast background for the gold hour and minute hands. This kind of dial style incorporates two superimposed discs. Arabic numerals at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock positions and hour markers are covered with the famous luminescent substance, which was name inspiration for entire watch line.
Robust 47 mm Case
Stylish huge 47 mm case is crafted in polished stainless steel, as well as bezel and the signature crown protector module. Instead of standard sapphire crystal, a Plexiglas protects a watch from scratches. This type of crystal had been common until the 1980′s, so the Panerai’s choice for the Luminor 1950 3 Days watch’s cover could be another successful attempt of reproducing the great company’s tradition.
New Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days hand-wound watch goes with a personalized leather strap and large-size brushed steel buckle, while a second interchangeable strap and a steel screwdriver are also available.
Along with number of new models from Historic Collection, which evokes memories on years of successful partnership with the Royal Italian Navy, new Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days (PAM 372) was presented at SIHH for 2011. It is expected that Panerai Officine will release around 4000 pieces per model, according to its year’s standard.
I am not sure for how long phosphorescent light should work on my watch.
It is usually glowing no more then 2 hours and then stops
Did you guys noticed the same or your Panerai can glow longer?
Plexiglas is a new and modern material for protecting from scratches. In use, it has proven to be much better than sapphire crystal.
The Penerai collection has a plenty of watches with interesting and transparent case backs. I like it.
