Van Cleef & Arpels has created the one-of-a-kind timepiece for the upcoming Only Watch biennial charity auction. The timepiece pays homage to the Monaco Principality with its dial showing a radiant Mediterranean blue with a piqué pattern at its center while the calligraphy evokes the white foam on the crest of the waves. This unique timepiece illustrates the brand’s vision of travel and their lasting ties with Monaco.
Van Cleef & Arpels Heure d’ici & Heure d’ailleurs features a dual time zone function. As you can see at the image above, the timepiece has a quite unusual dial. Able to track dual time zones, it displays the hours for the two at the 5 o’clock and 11 o’clock marks. Its dial also comprises a single retrograde minutes register which occupies the large part of the left side of the dial.
Van Cleef & Arpels Heure d’ici & Heure d’ailleurs for Only Watch 2015 is equipped with the self-winding movement with a platinum micro-rotor made of solid platinum. The automatic movement is developed by Agenhor exclusively for Van Cleef & Arpels and it is capable to store enough energy to keep the watch ticking for no less than 48 hours when fully charged.
All functions of the watch can be set via the crown, thus leaving the case clean and free of buttons. Traditionally, the crown is located at the 3 o’clock position and features a diamond which serves as a reminder of the brand’s roots as a jeweler.
Van Cleef & Arpels for Only Watch 2015 is housed in an 18-karat white gold case which measures 42mm in diameter and 7.4mm in thickness. The watch is constructed to resist water pressure up to 30 meters (approximately 100 feet).
This unique timepiece will be sold at the Only Watch charity auction of unique timepieces created and donated by the finest watchmakers for research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The event will be held on November 7, 2015 in Geneva.
