For the fifth edition of the Only Watch charity auction, Vacheron Constantin created a one-of-a-kind Patrimony Traditionnelle WorldTime timepiece which is the first model in the famous line made of platinum. Distinctive by its complex design, a white cloisonné enamel dial features a beautifully executed map of Europe, a 24-hour scale, as well as the names of 37 cities, including a red Monaco inscription that marks the place of the event. This luxurious watch, created for a stylish world traveler, will be sold at the 2013 Only Watch auction, together with other 35 unique haute horological pieces. All the proceeds will benefit the struggle against Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
The new Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Traditionnelle WorldTime timepiece features a round, brilliantly polished platinum case, with the diameter of 42.5 mm and the thickness of 11 mm. Combined with a black alligator strap and a platinum buckle in the shape of half Maltese cross, this watch is a true example of the contemporary elegance. Lugs are prominent, nicely curved and well polished, as well as the crown, decorated with the brand’s signature Maltese Cross engraving.
Another unique feature of this great watch is its wonderful cloisonné enamel dial with the map of Europe, showing the location of Monaco by a sparkling diamond. A gray dial nicely matches the case and makes a nice contrast with a black strap. It comprises four parts. Besides the map which is the absolute highlight of the watch, there is a white metal ring with the names of cities in different time zones, inscribed in black and gray color (except Monaco that is presented in red).
It is framed by the striking sapphire ring that features 24-hour scale in red and white, which are the official colors of Monaco Principality. Besides, red indicates the nighttime, while white shows daytime. Finally, there is a metal ring at the outer rim with the minute scale and applied, 18 karat white gold hour markers.
Both sides of the case are covered by anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The edge of the brushed platinum case-back is engraved with “Only Watch 2013, Piece Unique”, while its transparent central part opens a view on a stunning in-house movement, based on a Vacheron Constantin 2460WT self-winding mechanism. With the quality proved by the Hallmark of Geneva, this mechanism beats on the frequency of 28’800 vibrations per hour and provides the power reserve of 40 hours. Its beautifully decorated oscillating weight made in rose gold looks especially impressive.
