For the Only Watch 2013 auction that will be held on September 28 in Monaco, Roger Dubuis has prepared an exquisite timepiece. La Monégasque Automatic Flying Tourbillon Watch is the first member of the La Monegasque collection that integrates the automatic flying tourbillon movement. This unique piece boasts the flying tourbillon, the visible micro-rotor and the Poinçon de Geneve quality hallmark.
The watch is powered by the caliber RD52. It is a self-winding movement which is built on 30 jewels and composed of 227 parts. The mechanism provides no less than 60 hours of power reserve and oscillates at the frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz). It features rhodium-plated circular-grained plate, “Côtes de Genève” decoration on bridges, and a tourbillon carriage in the shape of a Celtic cross which is placed between 7 and 8 o’clock positions. The mechanism is stamped with the Poinçon de Genève.
The Roger Dubuis for the Only Watch 2013 is housed in a pink gold case with the diameter of 44mm. The case construction provides water resistance of up to 50 meters (circa 165 feet).
The watch features a gorgeous charcoal-gray satin sunburst center of the dial and the intermediate section with a circular satin exterior. There is also a black transferred index with powder edging, pink gold applied Arabic numerals with powder edging, a flying tourbillon ring situated between 6 and 8 o’clock positions and a micro-rotor displayed between 10 and 12 o’clock positions. I would like to say that the dark gray color provides a perfect backdrop for red gold numerals and it beautifully emphasizes both the flying tourbillon ring and micro rotor.
Roger Dubuis La Monégasque Automatic Flying Tourbillon has a see-through sapphire crystal case back. Printed on the crystal there is an inscription “Only Watch Unique Piece”, while the gold rim around the crystal features engraving “01/01″, which once again underlines the uniqueness of the new Roger Dubuis watch.
At the bottom on the dial, you can see the engraving “Poinçon de Genève”. Roger Dubuis is the only watchmaker that can stamp the Hallmark of Geneva on its entire range. Each part of every section of the mechanism is individually finished and decorated by hand, from the main plate to the smallest screw.
For the best comfort of its wearer, this piece unique comes with a black, genuine alligator, hand-stitched leather strap, fitted with a pink gold pin buckle. The estimated price range for this exceptional timepiece is between CHF 150,000 and CHF 200,000.
