For the fifth “Only Watch” charity auction, Girard-Perregaux has prepared the new Chrono Hawk model with the referent number 49970-32-1304SBF60. This unique watch is at the same time elegant and sporty.
The new Girard-Perregaux timepiece is housed in a round case crafted from black ceramic. The sporty case sizes 44mm in diameter and incorporates a fixed bezel crafted from palladium.
The case is coated on both sides with anti-reflective sapphire crystals (a double layer of crystals on the front side) and it is constructed to resist water resistance of up to 100 meters (about 330 feet). The case back of the watch is secured by six screws. The design of the Chrono Hawk Only Watch 2013 features bold edges which give it a modern look.
Beneath the sapphire glass there is a black dial encrusted with ornaments in the form of waves. This layout is complemented with a motif that is inspired by the well-known Girard-Perregaux Bridge. The dial comprises applied hour indexes and hands coated with white luminous material. The dial is well-balanced with two white sub-dials each featuring a striking red flange. They are set in a perfect symmetry at 3 and 9 o’clock positions. There is also a small date window displayed at the 6 o’clock position. On the dial’s flange, a red scale with Arabic numerals nicely rounds the dial surface.
Girard-Perregaux unique Chrono Hawk watch for Only Watch 2013 is equipped with the in-house manufactured GP03300 mechanical movement. The self-winding mechanism animates the following functions: hours, minutes, small seconds, chronograph and date. It oscillates at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and it is built on 61 jewels.
Girard-Perregaux movement is capable to store enough energy to keep the watch ticking for at least 46 hours. This impeccable mechanism is visible through the sapphire glass case back.
The new Chrono Hawk is teamed with a black alligator leather strap with red stitching. The strap ends with a folding buckle executed in PVD titanium with ceramic cover. The Only Watch 2013 charity auction will be held on September 28 in Monaco where each of 38 high-end watch manufacturers is going to donate one unique timepiece, specially created for this occasion.
