For the upcoming edition of the Only Watch charity auction, Frédérique Constant has prepared a special version of its famed Double Heart ladies’ model. This refined women’s watch with an automatic movement has a characteristic double heart shaped aperture on the top of the dial which reveals the movement’s balance wheel. In order to make it different from the other similar models, the watchmaker has created a unique version with a case paved with diamonds and additional decorations. However, this is not the whole story, since Fredrique Constant offers its watch with full-cut diamonds ornaments accompanied with a three piece jewelry set which consists of a bracelet, a pendant and a pair of earrings.

Frédérique Constant first introduced its Heart Beat models in the mid 1990s when mechanical watches were making a comeback. In order to make a clear distinction between its mechanical watches and a less refined quartz models, the Swiss watchmaker opted to make an aperture on the dial which will reveal its balance wheel. This allowed the wearer to see how the balance wheel turns both ways on its axes as it is controlled by a hairspring which intermittently coils and uncoils. Unlike the initial models from the series which had round shaped apertures on their dials, the watch offered at the Only Watch 2013 will feature an opening in the shape of a double heart. This feminine trait (which in this instance has an additional meaning which symbolizes the compassion and solidarity with the children affected with Duchene muscular dystrophy) was previously seen in several of the model’s iterations which were intended for the ladies.

Another common characteristic between the new model and some of the previous watches with a Double Heart Beat designation is the presence of a perlage finish which is shown on the balance bridge through the aperture. The visible balance wheel belongs to FC-310 self-winding caliber which has a power reserve that lasts for around 38 hours.

As the watchmaker made sure, the watch comes with a plenty of decorations. Its circular shaped housing is made from 18K rose gold, while the fixed bezel in the same material is paved with 193 full-cut diamonds that have VS clarity, H color and the total weight of 1.424 carats. Appropriately for a woman’s wrist, the case is made with the modest diameter of 34 mm and protected with a convex sapphire crystal from the front side. As far as the screw-down case back is concerned, it likewise has a sapphire see-though section and it displays an engraving which states “Only Watch 2013” and that the watch is made in a single copy. Frédérique Constant timepiece is likewise made with a neat amber cabochon crown and with the ability to withstand water pressures to 30 meters.

The timepiece made for the Only Watch 2013 charity event has an opaline dial with a mother-of-pearl decoration on the outer ring. Its heart theme is likewise visible in the central segment of the dial which features a heart-shaped guilloche motif. Moreover, the face of the watch includes a single Roman numeral at the six o’clock position and eight diamond indexes (with the weight of 0.08 carats). As for the strap, the manufacturer opted for a light “sweet vanilla” toned satin strap which fastens with a folding buckle and features water resistant lining on the inner side. As it has been mentioned, the watch by Frédérique Constant is accompanied with a bracelet, a pendant and earrings, each made from 18K rose gold and with a dominant double heart motif. The bracelet is paved with a single diamond (0.08 carats) and semi precious stones, the pendant includes diamonds with the weight of 0.42 carats, while the earring features gems with the weight of 0.36 carats. All of the items that Frédérique Constant intended for the charity event will be delivered in a one-of-a-kind luxurious gift box.
