This eye-catching chronograph is a part of the highly successful Aqua Terra family of Omega watches. With an addition of GMT hand, it possesses the authentic design of its line, the brand’s superb functionality and a high level of luxury. Omega Seamater Aqua Terra GMT Chronograph is a robust men’s watch, suitable for various styles and activities.
Like Seamater Aqua Terra Chronometers and basic Aqua Terra Chronographs, the GMT model is recognizable at a glance by the “Teak Concept” dial. It can be described as a vertically lined pattern, which is inspired by wooden decks on luxury boats.
A specially designed surface, in teak-grey or white color, is complemented with highly polished watch hands and applied hour markers, crafted in 18k gold. Add a three-row gold bracelet and a rotating 24-hour bezel (Red gold Aqua Terra GMT 184.108.40.206.06.001) and someone could almost conclude that we are talking about a Rolex timepiece.
The minutes track runs over the outer rim, while the chronograph sub-dials take the central part of the dial. Inside the small seconds sub-dial, at the 9 o’clock position, the Swiss watchmaker inserted the text “Omega Seamaster GMT”. The 30-minute counter is at the 3 o’clock position, while the 12 hour chronograph is at the 6 o’clock position. A date window takes the 4:30 o’clock position. The dial is highly legible and pretty easy to read.
The bidirectional rotating bezel and the arrow GMT hand are the only differences between the GMT model and basic Aqua Terra Chronograph (that we have already reviewed). The GMT bezel, with a black PVD coating, features markers for odd hours and Arabic numerals for even hours, in a color that matches the case and the dial’s markers. The GMT hand makes one rotation in 24 hours, tracking the time in the second time zone. With these features, the watch has lost a part of elegance that comes with a polished stationary bezel, while it has gotten a true sportive look, which is the essence of the Seamaster Collection.
Gold or Steel Cases
The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra GMT Chronograph has a masculine 44 mm case, either made of stainless steel or 18k red gold. Each type of case is available with a bracelet in the same material, or with a leather strap.
One of the most interesting variations is the Steel on leather strap model 220.127.116.11.04.001 which features a nice contrast among its white dial, dark hands, black bezel and crocodile strap. White hour markers with a black frame make the dial highly readable.
Aqua-Terra GMT Chrono timepieces are powered by the Co-axial Caliber 3603 self-winding movement. This C.O.S.C. certified chronometer incorporates a free sprung-balance, a column wheel and the Co-axial escapement, for greater accuracy, stability and durability. Featuring a rhodium plated finish and gold plated engravings, this mechanism has a power-reserve of 55 hours.
These catchy watches are protected on the both sides with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. They are water- resistant up to 150 meters (500 feet).
