The Constellation Double Eagle is a special line of Omega watches that is closely connected with a game of golf. The Swiss watchmaker recently extended the prestigious line with the new Double Eagle Co-Axial 4-Counters timepiece. Sporty, modern and innovative, this model is one of the most striking Omega men’s timepieces.
For the first time, the Double Eagle watch comes with four sub-dials. This unusual feature is the very first thing you will notice with a singe look at a boldly designed black dial, with a distinctive truncated Clou de Paris motif. Aesthetically arranged across the dial, sub-dials represent the small seconds, the seven-day recorder and 12-hour and 30-minute chronograph counters. The watch face also features a date window at the 6 o’clock position and a day window at the 12 o’clock position.
Great functionality is complemented with a wonderful design and a touch of luxury. There are two variations of the Omega Constellation Double Eagle 4-Counters Chronograph. The first one comes with a 18 Ct orange gold case, a solid gold bezel, covered with black rubber Arabic numerals, and a black rubber strap, with a satin-brushed stainless steel foldover clasp. The crown and the pushers of this glamorous piece are also made of brushed orange gold.
The second version is made of stainless steel and it has a black aluminum bezel with silver Arabic numerals that match the color of the case and sub-dials’ rims. It is available with a black rubber strap. Both variations reflect great attention that Omega’s designers have given to details. They incorporate 18 Ct white or orange gold facetted hour markers, facetted and truncated gold Dauphine hands and the applied OMEGA symbol and name.
The Omega Co-Axial Calibre 3890
The Constellation Double Eagle 4-Counters Chrono timepiece is powered with the revolutionary Omega Co-Axial Calibre 3890 self-winding movement. The mechanism guarantees higher stability, reliability and accuracy, thanks to the Co-Axial Escapement, free sprung balance and a new generation of shock-absorber. This officially certified chronometer beats with 28,800 vibrations per hour, comprises 33 jewels and provides a solid power-reserve of 52 hours. It is revealed through the transparent sapphire crystal case back.
A domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment also covers the front side of the case, providing a nice visibility. This Double Eagle is water resistant up to 100 meters (330 feet).
Although the Double Eagle 4-Counters watches are true masterpieces in every aspect of watchmaking, they simply do not look as golf timepieces. This seams like the only mistake that the Swiss watchmaker made, producing this line. The fact is that the Constellation is the most glamorous Omega collection (which may look as a connection with a world of golf), but anyway, a watch with such a robustness (44mm case) and boldness cannot be the best solution for a golf player, no matter how nice and luxurious it is (read a review of the Tag Heuer Professional Golf Watch and compare).
