Once again, renowned fashion house, Louis Vuitton, participates in a great charity that will culminate at the Only Watch 2011 auction, in Monaco, on 22 September. By collaborating with Paul Pettavino, a boy afflicted with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Louis Vuitton created one-of-a-kind Tambour Diver Chronograph to benefit a great cause.
This unique version of the brand’s luxury diving watches comes in an interesting, very striking combination of black and orange colors. Its robust, black case is made of white gold with a specialized PVD treatment which has given it the black color. The case size of 44 mm in diameter seams like a good size for under-water operations. Around the outer edge of the case, the name of the famous French company is inscribed.
Very interesting black dial of Louis Vuitton Tambour Diver Chronograph incorporates an inner rotational bezel, with inscribed minute markers, Arabic numerals and luminescent triangle at the 12 o’clock position. The dial also features applied luminous orange markers and two sub-dials – an orange ‘diver down’ flag sub-dial at the 6 o’clock position, and a chrono counter, located at the 12 o’clock position. A date window takes the 3 o’clock position. Tops of hour and minute hands, as well as the central second hand are orange. That is also a color of a thick rubber strap. It is interesting that orange color is Paul’s favourite color.
A transparent sapphire crystal caseback, with ‘Only Watch 2011′ engraving opens a clear view on a self-winding chronograph movement with a colum weel – LJP 8181 Calibre. Unlike the other Louis Vuitton Tambour Diver timepieces (water-proof up to 300 meters), the Only Watch model has significantly lower water-resistance (up to 100 meters) which is not a serious depth for professional divers. However, it is more than most of us have ever required.
Louis Vuitton Tambour Diver Chronograph for Only Watch 2011comes in a unique box in Damier Graphite style canvas, with a personal message and a nautical sound record, realized by Paul Pettavino.
