Probably the most famous football coach in the world, and deLaCour’s Ambassador, Josè Mourinho, has given his personal touch to this avant-garde product. The one of-a-kind version of the “City Ego”, under the name Mourinho City Ego for Only Watch, was specially created for this year’s charity auction that will take place in Monte Carlo, on September 22.
The engraving on the back of this attractive timepiece nicely reflects the character of the person who stands behind it. “I am not afraid of the consequences of my decisions” are exactly the words that go with José Mourinho’s attitude. deLaCour Mourinho City Ego Chronograph also goes in line with that strong character, by offering a striking, masculine and authentic look.
The Mourinho City Ego for Only Watch has a nicely curved, titanium case, with robust dimensions: 55.5 x 53.5 x 15.5 mm. Covered with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal on both sides, it incorporates a titanium crown and two chrono square buttons.
The black dial of this watch, with a “honeycomb” design that subtly opens a view on a movement, is visually separated in three parts. It looks like the designer’s intention to create such a messy dial with so much parts standing in the perfect disharmony. The matte black, crooked outer rim comes with applied Arabic numerals which indicate hours, with a nice, luminous gleam.
Fixed with four screws, the inner chrono division features a minute track with Arabic numerals for every fifth minute, and minute markers in white and blue. The most striking part is the center of the dial, with the chronograph sub-dial at the 3 o’clock position, the 24 hour sub-dial at the 9 o’clock position, the power-reserve indicator at the 6 o’clock position, and the round date window at the 1 o’clock position. Skeleton dauphine minute and hour hands come with luminous tips, while the forth chrono hand comes in a striking orange color.
The watch is powered by the Calibre DC 280 automatic movement which has a power-reserve of 42 hours, when chronograph functions are not used.
It is rhodium plated and features a straight line lever escapement, a monometallic balance, a shock absorber and a self-compensating balance spring.
Accompanied by its box, with a winder, the Certificate of origin and a warranty, this unique watch has a black rubber strap, with a titanium deLaCour deployant clasp. Josè Mourinho usually wears his City Ego during games, press conferences and everyday activities. Although Mourinho can also participate in the Only Watch auction and buy this one-of-a-kind model, it is more likely that someone else will be the only one who will enjoy wearing this interesting model which price is estimated from 15,000 to 25,000 euros.
Haha, what a great name for Mourinho’s watch. Ego is his middle name
. Anyway, pretty unusual piece. I don’t know whether I like it or find it ridiculous.
