Zenith has extended its Elite series with a new ultra-slim and elegant model 6150. The newcomer is named after and it premiers a new in-house movement which is under 4 mm thick. Despite its thin profile, it features twin barrels that allow it to have a very long-lasting power storage which lasts for entire five days. In addition to being under 10 mm thick, the steel housing of the watch is likewise the first one by Zenith that will have the smaller diameter of 42 mm. The price of the watch is $7,150 for which its buyers will also get an additional gift, providing that they register their models at the manufacturer’s web site.
Elite 6150, a groundbreakingly new and different model by Zenith which was first announced at this year’s edition of the Baselworl 2015 fair is finally available. This model represents an important milestone in the brand’s offer for several different reasons. Firstly, it incorporates a new type of in-house built movement. It also premiers a new type of case which will from now on become a benchmark diameter for the entire palette of the watchmaker’s products.
The mentioned novel proprietary caliber Zenith 6150 after watch the model is named is qualitatively different from the brand’s other ones. It is distinguished with its reduced profile which measures to just 3.92 mm. The self-winding movement has the diameter of 13 ¼ lignes (30 mm). It consists of the total sum of 195 components, including 35 jewels that were used in its construction. Despite its reduced thickness, Zenith has managed to ensure a very generous power reserve which lasts for minimally 100 days.
Unlike the famed El Primero, 6150 does not function at the rate of 5 Hz. Its frequency is more common in the watchmaking world and measures to 4 Hz. As for the decorations of the movement, it should be said that it features the Cotes the Geneve motif on its oscillating weight. Contrary to the rate of the movement, this decoration is a ubiquitous trait which can be seen throughout the brand’s collection.
Due to the inclusion of a new thin movement, the brand was able to create a slimmer profile for its new housing as well. The stainless steel housing with the width of 42 mm is 9.45 mm thick. It is coupled with a fixed bezel which surrounds a domed sapphire glass treated with glare-proof coating on both its inner and outer sides. Sapphire is likewise present on the rear side of the case in order for the new caliber not to remain hidden. The construction allows water resistance of 50 meters.
Zenith’s milestone model which was created as a part of the brand’s celebration of the 150th anniversary features a silver-toned dial with a radiant brushed decoration. The dial includes engraved and rhodium-plated hour markers and three faceted hands with the same plating as the indices. Three central hands are its only supported indications.
Zenith Elite 6150 is paired with a black alligator leather strap with protective rubber lining. It locks with a triple folding clasp made of stainless steel.
All buyers who get and register this model before the end of this year, will get an additional present from the manufacturer. This gift is a book which covers all of the brand’s most important moments in its century and a half long existence.
