Fellows Auctioneers will organize one of the UK’s largest auctions this year, on July 18. Taking place in the Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter, this auction will offer over 600 watches, vintage and modern, including products of some of the world’s most renowned brands, such as Rolex, Breitling, Audemars Piguet, Omega and Patek Philippe.

One of the UK’s auctioneers with the longest tradition, established in 1876, announced that this will be its largest wrist watch auction ever, with various pieces which prices are estimated from £200 up to £50,000. (The catalogue with all the watches from the auction can be seen at http://www.fellows.co.uk/finewatchauction)

“We are really excited that we can bring an event of this size and quality to Birmingham; helping the Jewellery Quarter to gain global exposure as a part of the UK that is open for business. There is something in this auction for any watch collector and there are some sensational lots to view in the online catalogue”, said Stephen Whittaker, the Managing Director of Fellows.

From the extraordinary collection that can satisfy various tastes of serious watch collectors, as well as of those who are seeking for high-quality watches for everyday wear, we recommend a few Rolex timepieces. First of all, there is the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona – best known as the ‘Paul Newman Daytona’, from 1969. The estimated price of this vintage sport model goes from £30,000 to £40,000.

In order to buy another Rolex’s masterpiece, the men’s Oyster Perpetual Day-Date watch, with a diamond dial and bezel, the next owner will need to spend from £40,000 to £50,000. For those who want even more striking look, Fellows Auctioneers offers 18k white gold gentleman’s Oyster Perpetual Datejust timepiece from the 2008 edition, with the estimated price from £14,000.00 to £18,000.00. It features a diamond-pave dial and bezel, as well as an eye-catching red leather strap.

Among the watches with the highest estimated price range, there is the gentleman’s platinum Audemars Piguet John Schaeffer Minute Repeater, from the 1997 Limited Edition. Its price goes from £25,000 to £35,000. Another great Audemars Piguet’s watch to be auctioned is Jules Audemars Skeleton Quantieme Perpetuel timepiece from 1994, with the price estimated from 18,000.00 to 24,000.00 pounds.

Watches with Paul Newman dial are the rarest Daytonas. This dial is pretty different than regular Daytona. It has block markers instead of lines, and the minutes sub dial at 9 is marked for every 15 mins (instead of every 20 mins). Rolex stopped producing the Daytonas since the beginning of the 70s. Today, these watches are very rare and among the most sought-after.

Those who can afford them, use these products at a first place as good investments. They are not buying them because of their beauty.

Just because they’re good investments it doesn’t mean that they’re not beautiful. :) of course, not many people can afford them, but those are really masterpieces. so, although I agree about the fact that it can be considered as an excellent investment, there’s more to it.
