The Malte collection by Vacheron Constantin, distinguished by tonneau shaped timekeepers, is now richer for a new ladies’ model. The latest watch with a small seconds indication bases its functioning on a proprietary manually-wound Calibre 1400AS. This movement which was developed and manufactured by the brand with workshops in Geneva and Valee de Jeux bears the Hallmark of Geneva as the guarantee of its quality. The elegant ladies’ model is available in white or pink gold case and it features a bezel sprinkled with 50 diamonds whose weight reaches nearly 1 carat.
Vacheron Constantin’s palette of products from now on includes a new ladies’ model that does not include any particularly demanding complications. Its only supported functions are hours and minutes which are executed via central hands, as well as a small seconds counter which can be seen at the usual place at the bottom of the dial. However, the watch is far from a common timekeeper. It has a very elegant overall styling and classical appearance and it uses noble materials and decorations. More importantly, it bears the Poinçon de Geneva as the guarantee of the exceptionally strict standards that were implemented when the watch and its movement were constructed.
Certainly the most appealing trait of the timepiece is its beating heart, Calibre 1400AS which will be especially likeable to horological aficionados since it was completely conceived, developed, constructed and finished in-house. The movement in question integrates 98 components in its construction and includes 20 jewels. Its diameter is 9 lignes (20.65 mm) and it is exceptionally thin with the thickness of just 2.6 mm. Calibre 1400AS operates at the frequency of 4 Hz and it is a hand-wound movement whose power reserve lasts for 40 hours. Prior to the new model, this specific caliber was solely used in the brand’s historic model Aronde 1954. Naturally, the movement is also decorated with Haute Horlogerie finishes.
As all of the other models from the Malte series, the new women’s timepiece comes with a tonneau shaped housing. This time, its length is 38.67, whereas the width measures to 7.72 mm. It features sapphire on both its front and back (so it is possible to see the functioning of its caliber) and supports water resistance to 30 meters. The watch has a fixed bezel encrusted with 50 diamonds whose total weight measures to exactly 0.96 carats. As it has been mentioned, the watch is available with two types of 18 K gold housings. The reference 81515/000R-9892 is with a pink gold case, whereas the reference 81515/000G-9891 has its housing in white gold.
New Vacheron Constantin Malte Small Model has a dial made of silvered metal. It includes applied Roman numerals and sword-shaped hands in the same color as the case. For the attachment of the model, Vacheron Constantin chose a strap made of alligator Missippiensis leather which locks with a standard buckle in the same material as the case. As for the color, the pink gold model has a taupe strap, while the white gold variation comes with a dark blue wristlet.
New Malte Small model is not the only novelty from the Vacheron Constantin collection of tonneau watches. The Swiss brand has also released two very similar novelties. The first one is another ladies’ model that has its entire dial paved with precious stones and does not include a small second counter. The final among the newcomers from the Malte series is a men’s watch without diamonds on its bezel. This timepiece is slightly larger and includes a caliber with a bit longer power reserve.
