The Genevese watchmaker Vacheron Constantin has recently introduced a brand new collection dubbed Harmony, as a part of the celebration of its 260th year of existence. One of the first models from the novel collection that was presented to the broader public is called after its supported complication – Dual Time. The watch is supplied with a new type of automatic caliber with the Geneva seal of quality which allows simultaneous representation of time in two different time zones. As for the watch itself, it is cushion shaped and characterized with an interesting asymmetric layout of the dial. Vacheron Constantin Harmony Dual Time is available in three variants which are all made with housings in precious materials. There are two men’s variants (in white and pink gold), as well as an additional smaller ladies’ model with diamond decorations on the bezel. Each of the variants have their caliber’s golden rotor embellished with an intricate fleurisanne engraved motif which was seen in the first historic pocket watch that the brand released back in 1755.

Vacheron Constantin Harmony Dual Time Watch
At the last edition of the Salon de la Haute Horlogerie which was held at the end of January in Geneva, Vacheron Constantin presented a new series called Harmony. As it can be deduced from the first watches from the collection, the series will include cushion-shaped models. As the manufacturer (who is currently celebrating its 260th year of existence) revealed, the general appearance of these watches is inspired by a historic timepiece which Vacheron Constantin originally launched way back in the 1920s.
Just like the name of the new model suggests, the novel watch is supplied with a dual time feature. Apart from the local time zone which is shown in a traditional manner with the use of three central hands, the novel timekeeper also features a second time zone display which is shown on a smaller counter that is placed at the four o’clock position. The second time zone is connected with a charming and even smaller display that sits at the opposite side of the lower half of the dial. This counter is an interesting day and night indicator which utilizes golden symbols that represent the soon and the moon to show whether it is day or night in the home time zone. Otherwise, the silvered opaline face of the watch includes painted Arabic numerals.

Vacheron Constantin Harmony Dual Time bases its functioning on a proprietary automatic caliber 2460DT which was both designed and manufactured in-house. The mechanical movement integrates 27 jewels in its construction and includes 233 components altogether. Caliber 2460DT operates at the frequency of 28,800 vph and has a pretty modest power reserve which lasts for just 40 hours. As for its dimensions, the movement is 11 ¼ lignes wide (28 mm) and 5.4 mm thick. It is very important to state that it bears the Poincon de Geneva seal as the guarantee of its exceptional quality when it comes to performance, the materials that were used, as well the finishes and decorations. Among the embellishments that one can notice on the caliber, a special place is reserved for the fluerisanne engraving which is executed on the caliber’s golden rotor. This elaborate motif with arabesque lines replicates the one that was originally used in the first pocket watch by the brand. This model was made personally by Jean-Marc Vacheron in the middle of the 18th century.
