This year, Ulysse Nardin presented several exceptional timepieces, such as Royal Blue Tourbillon, Dual Time Executive Watch for women and great Black Sea Diver watch. Recently, the Swiss-based manufacturer unveiled its latest model – the new Sonata Streamline watch inspired by the aerodynamic design of neo superyachts. This newcomer will definitely capture your attention.
The new Ulysse Nardin Sonate Streamline reflects the brand’s nautical DNA in a modern, futuristic and notably masculine form. I will start from the case. The Ulysse Nardin’s novelty is housed in a sturdy titanium case with the diameter of 44 mm, and paired either with ceramic or 18-karat rose gold. The case is domed on both sides with anti-reflective sapphire crystals and it is water resistant up to 50 meters (165 feet).
The difference between two models is most visible on the dial. The ceramic bezel version with the referent number 675-00 sports a matching black dial, while the rose gold bezel model with the reference 675-01 has a white dial. The most noticeable difference is on the date window and on the way how the upper sub-dials are or are not framed.
If you ask me, I will rather go for the model with black dial and ceramic bezel, but I must admit that the date window on the other variant is more originally designed.
The Sonata Streamline is powered by the in-house patented self-winding Caliber UN-67 which boasts a 22-karat gold rotor with a silicium anchor escapement.
The supreme precision of the mechanism is also guaranteed with the brand’s acclaimed inertial balance wheel. The impeccable movement provides full 42 hours of power reserve and it is visible through the transparent case back.
A Superb Looking Dial with a Glossy Finish
As I already said, there are two types of dial designs, but the functions are the same. A second time zone sub-dial is positioned in lower part of the dial, at the six o’clock position. The second time zone can be easily adjusted (forward and backward) by just pressing the pushers located at the 7 o’clock position that indicates plus (+) or minus (-) to change the position of the hour hands.
On the upper part of the dial there are two counters situated at two and ten o’clock positions. They work as an indicator for the hour and minute alarm setting as well as a countdown timer.
The countdown indicator is based on a 24-hour mechanism which allows the watch alarm to be set 24 hours onward. This feature allows easy reading of whether the alarm is set for a.m. or p.m., with the hand at the 9 o’clock position denoting whether or not the alarm is activated.
There is also an oversized date window located at the four o’clock position. The hour and minute hands are skeletonized and each of them comes with white luminous material on the tip.
The new Ulysse Nardin Sonata Streamline comes either with black leather or black rubber strap, both with a folding buckle.
