The Hourstriker has been a part of the Ulysse Nardin’s Exceptional Collection for almost 25 years. This year, the Hourstriker Tiger marks an evolution of the admired watch with a completely new case design and a very special dial made of a solid disc of black onyx.

The exquisite dial comprises two hand-carved 18-karat gold tiger figurines that move with the sound of a gong. The tigers which stand upright on their back paws go after each other with their front paws every hour, or indicate the time on demand at the press of a button. As it gongs, the tiger Jaquemarts moves the accurate number of times the hammer hits the gong. Depending on preferences, the eye-catching mechanism can be activated/deactivated by simply pressing the pusher once.
Producing mechanisms tooled with a gong is a very important part of the brand’s history. In the late 1980s, the gong was combined with the Jaquemart feature, and Ulysse Nardin became one of the earliest watchmakers to fuel the rebirth of the striking mechanism. So far, the Swiss manufacturer remains the only wathcmaker to use Jaquemarts on the dial.

On the other hand, Tigers have been chosen since they are considered as a symbol of power and energy, and since they are featured prominently across the world. For example, in Asia, Europe and the Middle East, the tiger is often associated with the mightiness of kings.
Ulysse Nardin Hourstriker Tiger (ref. 6106-130/E2) boasts an 18-karat rose gold case which measures 43mm in diameter. The case features stunning stepped lugs and it has a very contemporary look and feel. The elegant case is shielded on both sides with antireflective sapphire crystals. The case is constructed to resist water pressure of up to 30 meters (circa 100 feet). The new watch features the unusually designed hour and minute hands which add the great finishing touch.

The beating heart of the new Ulysse Nardin Hourstriker Tiger is the in-house crafted caliber UN 610 self-winding movement which is capable to provide enough power to keep the watch ticking for at least 42 hours when fully wound. The impeccable mechanism and its beautifully crafted components can be seen through a sapphire crystal screwed case back.
For the great feel on the wrist, Ulysse Nardin teamed the new Hourstriker Tiger with a genuine leather strap, fitted with a folding buckle.
